Telefónica and Google Cloud have announced today the renewal and expansion of their strategic alliance, with the aim of offering a top-level cloud offering and accelerating the digital transformation of companies. This agreement will expand the Google Cloud services that Telefónica Tech offers to the B2B market and enhance the adoption of the cloud for Telefónica’s internal activities. Additionally, collaboration will be strengthened in key areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and generative artificial intelligence.
Telefónica already uses Google Cloud technologies internally to advance its own digital transformation through the “Go to Cloud” program. This program has allowed Telefónica to improve application deployment times and optimize its infrastructure, accelerating the transformation of its operating systems. In recent years, this strategic collaboration has brought significant value to both companies, leading to the extension of the agreement for another three years and exploring new avenues of collaboration.
The new agreement includes the use of AI and data services, hosting network functions with a telco cloud approach, and the automation of Telefónica’s network. These areas of innovation are essential for improving efficiency and productivity, both for Telefónica and its customers.
Telefónica Tech, the digital business division of the Telefónica Group, has achieved five specializations in Google Cloud: Workspace for enterprises, Infrastructure, Application Development, Data Analytics, and Cloud Migration. It has also become a Google Cloud Managed Services Provider, consolidating its position as an expert in accelerating growth and innovation with Google Cloud technology.

Google Cloud also closely collaborates with Wayra, Telefónica’s venture capital initiative, to provide startups with technology that helps them innovate in their product development processes, optimize costs, and facilitate their expansion.
