HPE is integrating its SASE platform, HPE Networking EdgeConnect, with HPE Mist and HPE Aruba Central, its two wired and wireless network management systems, so network and security teams can see and manage the entire user journey, from the Wi-Fi access point to the cloud, under a single framework. The company announced it on October 27, 2026, in Houston, with availability for Mist during 2026 and for Aruba Central in the first half of 2027.
HPE’s networking and SASE integration in 30 seconds
- HPE is joining EdgeConnect, its SASE and SD-WAN solution, with HPE Mist and HPE Aruba Central, its wired and wireless network platforms.
- The Marvis AI assistant and a mesh of agents automate diagnostics and actions across the network.
- A Large Experience Model predicts and prevents problems in apps such as Zoom and Teams.
- Integration with Mist lands in 2026 and with Aruba Central in the first half of 2027.
SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) is the model that combines wide-area connectivity (SD-WAN) and cloud security functions, known as SSE, in a single service. At HPE, that piece is EdgeConnect, while campus and branch networking is managed through two separate platforms, HPE Aruba Central and HPE Mist, the platform from Juniper Networks, the company HPE acquired in 2025. The announcement aims to stop those pieces from being treated as separate tools.
A network that diagnoses itself, according to HPE
According to HPE’s press release, EdgeConnect customers using Mist or Aruba Central will get these capabilities:
- HPE Marvis as the AI engine and assistant for the whole network, part of what HPE calls its self-driving network strategy.
- An agentic mesh that runs automated actions.
- User experience digital twins, which detect and fix problems without the user needing to be present.
- A Large Experience Model (LEM), a model that predicts and prevents issues in apps such as Zoom and Teams.
In the other direction, current Mist and Aruba Central customers will be able to add application-aware routing, WAN optimization, integrated security, and SSE integration. HPE says the deployment will be possible on customer premises, in the cloud, and in virtual private clouds. The release doesn’t mention pricing.
Fewer tools for NetOps and SecOps
David Hughes, HPE’s senior vice president and general manager of SASE and Networking Security, argues that enterprise networks have grown too complex to manage with siloed tools and domains, and presents the integration as a clear path toward autonomous operations. Analysts quoted in the announcement, Bob Laliberte of Liberte Research Group and Zeus Kerravala of ZK Research, describe it as an AI-ready connectivity fabric for the enterprise and as a logical and necessary evolution of enterprise networking.
The move competes with vendors that have sold SASE as a single platform for years, such as Cato Networks, which Revista Cloud covered when it reported that Cato Networks rolled out a shared SASE license pool for MSPs serving SMBs. For HPE, the challenge is integrating three product families with different origins (Aruba, Juniper and Silver Peak, where EdgeConnect comes from) without forcing customers to migrate platforms. The announced timeline suggests that convergence will be completed throughout 2027.
