Dell Strengthens Cyber Resilience for AI, Identities and Storage

Dell PowerProtect and PowerStore hardware used for cyber resilience

Dell Technologies has expanded its cybersecurity and cyber resilience lineup with services to protect AI environments, identity recovery for Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID and Okta, and quantum-resistant encryption for its PowerStore storage. The company announced it on October 27, 2026, and most of the new features will arrive between October and December.

Dell’s cyber resilience update in 30 seconds

  • Dell launches services to review the security of its AI Factory and plan recovery for critical AI workloads.
  • PowerProtect will be able to restore clean copies of Active Directory, Entra ID and Okta after an incident.
  • A managed detection and response service watches for identity threats around the clock.
  • PowerStore adds quantum-resistant encryption for data in transit over Fibre Channel, with most of it arriving between October and December.

Dell’s announcement starts from one idea: AI environments, identity systems and infrastructure have become priority targets for attackers. That’s why it groups the new features into those three areas, combining professional services, new PowerProtect features and improvements to its storage systems.

AI and identity security

For AI environments, Dell is introducing two services. Security Hardening for Dell AI Factory reviews the physical, virtual and application layers to find configuration risks affecting AI workloads and proposes prioritized fixes. Resilience Operations for AI helps identify each organization’s most critical AI capabilities and define its recovery policies and procedures. PowerProtect AI Assistant, the conversational interface for managing cyber resilience tasks, also gains daily risk reports and an approval step to review actions before they run.

On identity, PowerProtect will let customers restore clean, trusted copies of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID and Okta, so they don’t have to rebuild access permissions by hand after an attack. Dell is adding a managed detection and response (MDR) service for identities, with round-the-clock monitoring for suspicious logins, compromised accounts or privilege abuse, and automatic containment when defined attack patterns are detected.

Storage, snapshots and the post-quantum era

On the infrastructure side, PowerProtect and PowerScale are integrating to automate local snapshots with retention lock, and SmartSync will be able to copy those snapshots to Dell ObjectScale as an additional recovery copy and for long-term retention. The new version of PowerStore’s software adds quantum-resistant encryption for data in transit over Fibre Channel, with compatible PowerEdge servers and configurations, to guard against attacks that harvest encrypted data today to decrypt it in the future. Dell will also offer a post-quantum readiness assessment that locates an infrastructure’s cryptographic exposure and prioritizes migration.

Concern over post-quantum cryptography is spreading across the industry, with vendors such as Thales also rolling out their own solutions. Simon Jelley, Dell’s vice president of Cyber Resilience, argues the company has the portfolio, services and operational experience to help strengthen cyber resilience, and Dave Vellante, of theCUBE Research, warns that AI-driven attacks and enterprise agents act at machine speed and amplify the damage of a compromised identity — the kind of risk Cloud News explored when covering how IBM gives AI agents their own identity and credentials with Vault.

  • Available now: identity resilience in PowerProtect, MDR for identities, Resilience Operations for AI and the new PowerProtect AI Assistant features.
  • October 2026: Security Hardening for Dell AI Factory.
  • November 2026: new PowerStore software and the post-quantum readiness assessment.
  • December 2026: PowerProtect–PowerScale snapshot integration.

Frequently Asked Questions

What has Dell announced in cybersecurity?

Services to protect AI environments, identity recovery with PowerProtect, managed detection and response for identities, and post-quantum encryption in PowerStore.

Which identities can PowerProtect restore?

Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID and Okta, restoring clean copies after an incident.

What is PowerStore’s post-quantum encryption?

Encryption for data in transit over Fibre Channel that resists quantum computers, aimed at attacks that harvest encrypted data today to decrypt it later.

When will the new features be available?

Some are already available; the rest arrive between October and December 2026.
