A digital future for Andalusia: Building a new Data Center in Seville.

The Andalusian Government, led by counselor Antonio Sanz, has taken a step forward in its commitment to digitalization and sustainability by announcing the bidding for the construction of an innovative Data Processing Center (DPC) in the second semester of this year. Located on the Palenque site on the Isla de la Cartuja in Seville, this project, with a budget of 34.1 million euros financed by Next Generation EU funds, aims to be operational in the first semester of 2026.

The new DPC, described as “the brain of the Andalusian Government,” will centralize the storage and processing of data from the Andalusian administration. Its design incorporates sustainable and efficient technologies, such as a gas cooling system instead of the conventional water system, and self-consumption through a large photovoltaic installation, highlighting the commitment to reducing carbon footprint and adapting to the issue of drought.

This infrastructure will not only improve the security and privacy of Andalusian citizens’ data but also enable the implementation of advanced solutions based on cloud, artificial intelligence, and big data, marking a milestone in the transition towards more innovative and efficient public services.

The DPC project reflects the vision of Andalusia as a pioneer in innovation and digitalization, allocating over 375 million euros to the Andalusian Digital Agency in 2024 to strengthen cybersecurity, digitize the administration, and promote digital entrepreneurship. This effort aims at a fully digitalized Andalusia by 2030, using technology as a driver of growth and improvement in the quality of life of its citizens.
