WatchGuard Launches Total MDR: AI-Managed Cybersecurity for MSPs on a Single Platform

The new service reduces response times to threats by 80% and enables managed service providers (MSPs) to offer enterprise-level protection to small and medium-sized businesses from a single console.

WatchGuard® Technologies, a global leader in unified cybersecurity for managed service providers (MSPs), has launched its new service WatchGuard Total MDR, a comprehensive managed detection and response (MDR) solution powered by artificial intelligence. This service allows MSPs to detect complex attacks and respond quickly in environments that combine endpoint security, identity management, networks, and third-party cloud applications, all from a single platform.

In a context where organizations are adopting cloud-first models and facing increasingly sophisticated threats, WatchGuard responds with an innovative approach. Total MDR reduces the average incident response time from 30 to just 6 minutes, with fewer than one false alert per month, compared to over 250 typically seen in the industry. Thanks to a Security Operations Center (SOC) active 24/7, based on AI with expert threat hunters, the service provides continuous and automated coverage, suitable for the current pace of cyberattacks.

“Total MDR allows MSPs to act with agility and precision from a single interface. Whether blocking suspicious access, isolating compromised devices, or stopping malicious traffic, everything is managed from a unified console without having to resort to multiple tools,” explains Andrew Young, Chief Product Officer at WatchGuard.

A New Standard for Managed Cybersecurity

WatchGuard Total MDR is specifically designed to meet the operational needs of MSPs and their SMB clients, combining automation, expert guidance, and affordable costs. Its main advantages include:

  • Managed support that saves time and allows scalability: MSPs can focus on growing their business while WatchGuard handles threat detection and response across their entire security stack.
  • Drastic reduction of false alerts: With AI-based management, noise is minimized, and action is taken only against real threats. In the 2024 MITRE tests, Total MDR stood out for its low false positive rate.
  • Continuous expert advice: The service includes access to specialized technicians and account managers who assist partners at all times with tailored action plans.
  • Transparent and competitive pricing: No hidden costs, with advanced capabilities accessible even for small businesses.
  • Fast and easy onboarding: Total MDR is designed for easy implementation without requiring advanced technical knowledge, providing results from the first days.

Julien Perret, founder of Eiffie, asserts that “WatchGuard Total MDR acts as a customized virtual SOC for our clients, providing us with continuous intelligence, strategic guidance, and incident support at an optimized cost.”

Full Integration into the WatchGuard Ecosystem

The new service leverages the entire security portfolio of the company, including:

  • EDR, EPDR, and AEPDR for endpoint protection.
  • Firebox (firewalls).
  • AuthPoint (authentication and identity management).
  • Network Detection & Response (NDR).
  • Integration with cloud environments such as Microsoft 365/Azure, AWS CloudTrail, and Google Workspace.

This integration allows MSPs to monitor and protect all attack vectors from a single portal, speeding up response time and reducing operational burden.

Total MDR also represents the next step following WatchGuard’s acquisition of ActZero in January of this year. ActZero’s MDR experience and technology are now the foundation of this new service, and it is expected to open further to third parties in the near future to protect hybrid and multivector environments.

Industry Recognition and Leadership

WatchGuard continues to receive industry awards, such as the Best Authentication Technology award for AuthPoint by SC Media in 2025, and its inclusion as a Champion in the Canalys Cybersecurity Leadership Matrix for the third consecutive year. Additionally, the Cyber Defense Awards 2025 recognized WatchGuard MDR as the most promising managed detection and response solution, and its Zero Trust service received the Editor’s Choice distinction.

With Total MDR, WatchGuard strengthens its offering as a scalable, market-ready solution aimed at driving revenue for its MSP partners while protecting clients against increasingly sophisticated threats.
