Veeam expands data freedom with support for Proxmox VE.

Veeam® Software, a global leader in data protection and ransomware recovery, announced today that it will offer support for Proxmox® VE, a popular virtualization platform. This announcement will be made official at VeeamON 2024, an event taking place from June 3rd to 5th at the Diplomat Resort in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, both in-person and online.

The inclusion of support for Proxmox VE is in response to significant demand from service providers and small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs). This new capability will allow Veeam users simplified data management and enhanced cyber resilience, enabling data protection, movement, and recovery without depending on a single platform.

Support for Proxmox VE is part of a broader strategy by Veeam to provide freedom of choice to its customers. John Jester, Veeam’s Chief Revenue Officer, emphasized the importance of this flexibility: "Our customers are seeking the ability to migrate between their preferred platforms with the security provided by our data protection and cyber recovery. With support for Proxmox VE, we enhance our comprehensive data management solution, addressing the challenges our customers face in protecting their data and keeping their businesses running."

Features of Proxmox VE Support

  1. Immutable Backups: Protects backups in on-premise and cloud environments against ransomware and accidental deletions.
  2. Enhanced Backup Performance: Advanced integration offering faster and more efficient backups, minimizing disruptions.
  3. Veeam BitLooker: Optimizes backup performance by excluding unused disk blocks.
  4. Storage Flexibility: Compatibility with all types of Veeam Backup & Replication® backup repositories.

Martin Maurer, CEO of Proxmox, welcomed the collaboration: "Veeam’s support for Proxmox VE is a testament to the value our platform provides in an ever-changing market. This integration validates the demands of customers to have freedom of choice in managing their data."

Christophe Bertrand, ESG Practice Director, added: "Veeam has shown a consistent commitment to the evolution and protection of data environments, and the inclusion of Proxmox VE as the sixth hypervisor they support confirms their market-focused approach."
