Traefik’s Kubernetes-native platform offers traffic management, APIs, and AI model connectivity across all environments thanks to its integration with Azure Arc.
Traefik Labs, known for its popular Kubernetes-native application proxy with over 3.3 billion downloads, has announced its participation in the Microsoft Azure Arc ISV Partner program. This collaboration enables organizations to consistently manage Traefik’s connectivity solutions in distributed environments, whether in public clouds, private data centers, or edge locations.
The integration is a significant step in simplifying connectivity for businesses adopting hybrid and multicloud architectures, facilitating centralized management from the unified control plane of Azure Arc.
A Native Kubernetes Solution for Modern Connectivity
Traefik’s offering, highly rated on GitHub (with over 50,000 stars), seamlessly integrates with Azure Arc-enabled Kubernetes, aligning with Microsoft’s vision of providing unified management for any CNCF-certified cluster.
Key capabilities include:
- Consistent multi-environment connectivity: Uniform management of traffic routing, load balancing, and TLS termination across Azure, other clouds, and on-premises environments.
- Fully declarative architecture: Facilitates integration with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps practices, managing infrastructure as code across different environments.
- Integrated AI gateway: Enables connecting AI models with advanced features such as semantic caching, content protection, and context-based routing.
- Comprehensive API lifecycle management: From simulation to deprecation, with unified governance and security controls, even for AI workloads.
GitOps, Security, and Seamless Deployments
“Today’s hybrid and multicloud reality demands a coherent connective approach for the entire application portfolio,” said Emile Vauge, CTO of Traefik Labs. “Our integration with Azure Arc allows for building a unified API architecture that consistently manages both traditional APIs and AI workflows.”
Traefik’s declarative and GitOps-based approach aligns with Microsoft’s infrastructure as code philosophy, enabling the automation of connectivity policy deployment across heterogeneous environments, whether in Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Kubernetes clusters in other clouds, or on-premises infrastructures.
Demonstration at Microsoft BUILD 2025
The joint solution will be showcased at Microsoft BUILD 2025, demonstrating how organizations can apply GitOps workflows to deploy consistent connectivity policies across any type of Kubernetes environments.
“The integration process has been agile and showcases Traefik’s ease of use, as well as its alignment with Microsoft’s collaborative approach,” highlighted Tanmay Waghmare, Microsoft’s engineering director.
Availability
The solution is now available to all users through the Azure Marketplace, and it automatically extends to any Azure Arc-enabled Kubernetes environment. This ensures Azure customers have a consistent connectivity experience throughout their entire infrastructure.
