The University of Granada awarded the ‘Business Recognition Award’ to T-Systems Iberia, the digitalization services division for companies and public administration of the Deutsche Telekom Group, for their contribution to the achievement of the university’s strategic objectives in terms of innovation, lifelong learning, knowledge transfer, and international orientation in the programs that have been initiated. Pedro Mercado, Rector of the University of Granada, presented the award and highlighted the importance of collaboration between organizations focused on innovation.
The University highlights the high value of the programs initiated by T-Systems in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Business, especially the T-Systems-University of Granada Chair of Innovation in Digital Sustainability. “Several of the contents offered in the chairs are unique because of the uniqueness of the topics, such as the TAO program, as well as for opening up training opportunities not available in the market completely free of charge or for promoting the values of responsible management,” says José Alberto Castañeda, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business.
This chair is the first of its kind in Spain and carries out dissemination, awareness-raising, training, and research promotion actions in the field of digitalization. Due to its success, it has been renewed for two more years this year and the company is currently working actively with the university to develop the contents.
The University of Granada also recognizes T-Systems for introducing innovative methodologies carried out in conjunction with faculty groups, as well as seeking international orientation in the programs that have been initiated, some of which are aimed at training T-Systems employees themselves.
Cristina Caamiña, director of T-Systems value centers in Granada and Reus, indicates that “promoting educational programs that focus on innovation and collaboration with educational institutions to align curricula with market needs is one of our main objectives. We must encourage technological entrepreneurship, fostering an innovation ecosystem that attracts and retains talent by providing exciting and cutting-edge opportunities in the sector.”
Through its collaboration with the University of Granada, T-Systems seeks to strengthen university-business connections through joint programs that promote technological training, professional internships, and entrepreneurship projects. This includes creating programs that facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technologies from academic institutions to the business sector. The event was also attended by multiple representatives from the University of Granada, including Salvador del Barrio, Vice-Rector for Strategic Planning and Communication, Alberto Aragón, Professor of Business Organization and director of the T-Systems-University of Granada Chair, and Lola Vidal, Associate Professor of Human Resources and Coordinator of the Chair. They all agreed that the significant achievements made in this collaboration provide a solid foundation for a wide potential for future programs.
