The Future of Generative AI in Companies: Collaboration and Challenges According to a Study by NTT DATA

A recent study conducted by Forrester Consulting for NTT DATA reveals that 8 out of 10 business leaders see collaborative work with technology partners as essential to scaling the adoption of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI) in software and application development. This analysis, which involved 248 developers and software managers globally, underscores the growing importance of this technology in the business sector.

Adoption and Perceptions

The survey highlights strong support for Generative AI, with 96% of respondents stating that their organizations are taking active steps to enhance their adoption and usage capabilities. However, more than half (55%) admit that there is still a lack of necessary IT support to expand this technology across the entire organization. This figure highlights the challenge of fully integrating Generative AI into daily operations.

Collaboration as a Catalyst

80% of the surveyed business leaders agree that partnering with external service providers is crucial for a successful deployment of Generative AI. These collaborations not only facilitate technology scaling but also enhance important strategic goals such as accelerating time to market, cited by 61% of participants, and increasing productivity in software delivery, noted by 59%.

Predominant Challenges

The main obstacles identified in the adoption of Generative AI include lack of bandwidth and scalability (55%), as well as adequate training (51%). These barriers indicate that, while there is significant interest and recognition of the value of Generative AI, there are still technical and knowledge limitations that hinder its optimization and widespread use.

Organizational Agility and Competitiveness

60% of respondents express concern about not being able to keep up with the necessary pace of change to succeed with Generative AI. This lack of agility can cause companies to lag behind in critical areas such as enhancing user experience and increasing revenue.

Expert Perspective

David Pereira, Director of Data and Artificial Intelligence at NTT DATA, emphasizes the importance of Generative AI, stating: “Generative AI is positioning itself as a key tool on many levels. However, its implementation requires companies to have the right support. At NTT DATA, we are committed to leading this transformation and helping our clients effectively integrate this technology.”

Conclusions and Future

The NTT DATA study highlights a growing trend towards collaboration and the recognition of Generative AI as a competitive differentiator in software and application development. As companies seek to overcome implementation challenges, partnering with technology experts emerges as a promising strategy to fully leverage the capabilities of Generative AI.
