The first major Data Center in Galicia will be installed in Curtis with an investment of 51 million

Galicia takes a significant step towards modernizing its technological infrastructure with the construction of the first large data processing center in the region. The company Galicia Green Data Center will lead the project, which will have an investment of 51 million euros and will be located in the Curtis-Teixeiro industrial estate. This strategic infrastructure, recently declared of interest by the Xunta, will become a key pillar for the digital economic development of Galicia.

A Regional Impact Project

The new data center will occupy four plots in the Curtis-Teixeiro industrial estate, totaling 40,155 square meters. The construction of the center is projected to generate approximately 130 direct jobs during the construction phase. Once operational, the center will create another 45 permanent jobs, contributing to the economic dynamism of the region.

The President of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, highlighted the importance of the project for Galicia, stating that it will be the first infrastructure of its kind in the autonomous community. Rueda emphasized that the center will allow Galicia to have sovereignty over its data, strengthening local control over information and facilitating progress towards a digital economic model.

A Step Forward in the Regional Strategy

The declaration of the data center as a strategic industrial project by the Xunta’s Consello seeks to accelerate the processing and development of the data center, recognizing its relevance for Galicia’s technological and economic future. This legal figure is designed to support and streamline initiatives considered to have a significant impact on the region.

Galicia Green Data Center, part of the Ingenostrum group and founded in 2024, specializes in the development of data centers and reinforces its commitment to technological advancement in the region. The company is responsible for designing and building this key data center, which will be essential for the digitalization and secure handling of information for the main companies and institutions in Galicia.

A Year of Strategic Initiatives

The Curtis data center joins a series of strategic business projects in Galicia. The Xunta has recently granted the same distinction to other initiatives, such as the green hydrogen plant promoted by Acciona in Arteixo and the green hydrogen facilities of Reganosa and EDP Renovables in As Pontes. These projects also include a green methanol plant in Mugardos, a tire factory in As Pontes, and a recycled fiber factory in the same locality, among others.

The consolidation of the data center in Curtis represents a significant advancement in Galicia’s digital infrastructure, aligning with the regional vision to promote economic development through technological innovation and sustainability.
