Both entities will collaborate in modernizing citizen services and streamlining administrative processes.
The Community of Madrid and Microsoft have signed a collaboration agreement to enhance the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in public services. The agreement aims to modernize the regional administration, improve personalized citizen services, and optimize administrative processes through the application of advanced AI technologies.
Strategic Agreement
The agreement was signed by Miguel López-Valverde, Digitalization Counselor of the Community of Madrid, and Alberto Granados, President of Microsoft Spain. This protocol establishes collaboration in defining use cases of Generative Artificial Intelligence, framed within the areas of action of the newly created Technical Office for the Promotion of Artificial Intelligence of the Community of Madrid. Microsoft has joined this office as a strategic partner.
Miguel López-Valverde emphasized the importance of this agreement, stating that “it seeks to give a significant boost to the digitization and technological transformation of the Community of Madrid. It lays the groundwork for both entities to collaborate in the exchange of knowledge and experiences aimed at modernizing processes and citizen services, as well as strengthening economic activity and the business fabric of Madrid, promoting cutting-edge and innovative technological initiatives.”
In turn, Alberto Granados expressed that “as a strategic partner of the AI Promotion Office, Microsoft will contribute its experience and knowledge in building Artificial Intelligence solutions in the public administration. Additionally, it will provide standards, guidelines, and best practices in the development and deployment of AI projects that take into account ethical and responsible criteria. Together with the Community of Madrid, we will explore new initiatives based on our principles of responsible AI, with the aim of developing quality public services for the citizens of Madrid.”
First AI Applications
The collaboration between the Community of Madrid and Microsoft is already underway with several pilot projects. In the healthcare sector, Generative Artificial Intelligence technologies are being used to assist doctors in diagnosing rare diseases, thus improving the accuracy and speed in detecting these conditions.
Furthermore, both entities are working on creating a conversational AI assistant that will provide citizens with information on administrative procedures, making access to public services more efficient and personalized.
Another key project is the implementation of Generative AI tools, such as Copilot for Microsoft 365, among regional administration officials. This deployment aims to assess the impact of AI on streamlining administrative processes and improving the productivity and efficiency of public personnel.
A Promising Future for AI in Madrid
The agreement between the Community of Madrid and Microsoft represents a significant step towards modernizing and digitizing public services in the region. With Microsoft’s expertise and technology, and the commitment of the regional administration, it is expected that these initiatives will not only enhance the quality of public services but also strengthen Madrid’s position as a leader in technological innovation.
The coming months will be crucial for the implementation and evaluation of these projects, with the goal of demonstrating how Artificial Intelligence can transform and improve the lives of citizens.
