Templus (ICG) Strengthens Its Presence in the Data Center Sector with the Acquisition of BitNap in Barcelona

Templus, the leading data center platform in Southern Europe, has acquired the data center BitNap in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona), owned by Cellnex. With over 3,000 square meters and a capacity of 1.7 MW, this center stands out for its efficiency with a PUE of 1.14. Templus plans to enhance its sustainability and double its IT capacity.

This is Templus’s fourth acquisition in less than two years, adding to its acquisitions such as Beta Data Center (Avatel) and the Mapfre data center. Its expansion plan aims to reach 10 centers by mid-2025 and exceed 20 by the end of the year.

Cellnex, for its part, marks its first divestment in the sector in Spain while maintaining other assets valued at 100 million euros for sale. Meanwhile, the industry continues to attract investments, with players like Aermont and Goldman Sachs showing interest in the Spanish market.

Ignacio Velilla, CEO of Templus, highlighted that this purchase “strengthens our presence and capacity to offer advanced technological solutions.” With this move, Templus reinforces its leadership in Spain’s digital infrastructure.
