Tech for Good from Atos: Creating new sustainable workplace solutions.

Atos Unveils Global Offering to Boost Corporate Social Responsibility

Atos has unveiled a new global offering aimed at helping businesses meet their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals. This initiative is particularly significant given that 57% of the carbon footprint generated by enterprise Information Technology (IT) comes from devices used in the workplace. Atos’ service offering represents a significant advancement in providing customers with access to sustainable IT solutions.

Since announcing its partnership with Circular Computing, a BSI Kitemark™-certified startup, at the 2021 COP26, Atos has expanded its product portfolio and developed a comprehensive set of over 20 “Tech for Good” services and solutions. These cover aspects related to social value, accessibility, data analytics, and user interfaces.

The first part of this new offering focuses on device lifecycle management. Currently, many companies replace their employees’ laptops every three to four years, generating emissions of over 300 kg of CO2 equivalent per new device. Atos collaborates with a global network of industrial partners to offer customers low-carbon alternatives, such as performance-based renewal, device lifespan extension, refurbishment, or remanufacturing.

However, to optimize IT assets, it is essential to accurately measure their use and the carbon footprint of digital behaviors. Atos’ new offering includes a set of dashboards that enable end-users and managers to better monitor and reduce the carbon footprint in the workplace.

The “Atos Tech 4 Good Assistant” solution provides employees with real-time indicators to measure their individual performance in relation to environmental and social parameters. The assistant can recommend users to uninstall unnecessary programs, turn off their laptops, or change their device settings. Accessible through Teams or pop-up notifications, it also provides users with a monthly report.

Finally, the “Sustainable Workplace” offering aims to provide IT and CSR departments with consolidated data and recommendations to not only closely monitor their carbon footprint in the workplace but also improve the service’s impact in terms of social value and accessibility. All of these functions are designed to support CSR reporting, an increasingly complex activity for organizations worldwide.

The Atos Tech 4 Good Assistant solution already monitors over 100 device models, applications, and services, and offers more than 10 dashboards to track metrics such as device redistribution or energy consumption improvements. The offering has been designed in collaboration with a series of Atos clients to ensure it meets the needs of different industries and geographies before expanding to more devices and services, with an expected increase in 2024.

Alexa Van Den Bempt, Senior Vice President, Digital Business Platforms, Tech Foundations, Atos, said: “I am very excited about this new offering. It will not only help meet our clients’ tracking and information needs, but we are also taking important steps to encourage decarbonization efforts, empowering employees to make the right decisions for our planet.”

Atos has been committed to reducing the environmental impact of its activities worldwide for over 12 years. It has been a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices globally and in Europe for 8 years and is among the top three European IT companies listed in the computer services sector. Atos has also received an “A” rating from the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) for over 10 years, recognizing actions to combat global warming.

The digital workplace is one of the main strategic activities of Atos’ Tech Foundations business line. It provides a comprehensive employee experience through digital collaboration and productivity tools, as well as intelligent customer care services. In March 2023, Atos was positioned as a Leader by Gartner in its Magic Quadrant 2023 for Outsourced Digital Workplace Services (ODWS) for the seventh consecutive year.

This new global offering from Atos is poised to make a significant impact on businesses, helping them meet their CSR goals while driving sustainable IT practices.
