STT GDC India to Invest €380 Million in Data Campus in Hyderabad

The partnership with the Government of Telangana solidifies the region as a global tech hub and aims to establish one of the largest data centers in the country.

In a move that reinforces Telangana’s position as a global tech epicenter, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (India) (STT GDC India) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Telangana to build a state-of-the-art data center campus on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The investment, which could reach INR 3,500 crore (approximately 380 million euros), seeks to leverage the growing demand for digital infrastructure in India and around the world.

An ambitious project with AI capabilities

The project, with a projected capacity of up to 100 MW, will be equipped with advanced technologies and will be scalable to support future growth, standing out as one of the largest data centers in the region. Additionally, it will be “AI-ready,” allowing for the integration of infrastructure designed to support artificial intelligence applications.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at the STT GDC headquarters in Singapore, attended by the Honorable Chief Minister of Telangana, Shri Revanth Reddy, IT Minister Shri DS Babu, and key representatives from the government and STT GDC. During the event, Bruno Lopez, President and CEO of the STT GDC group, highlighted the importance of this collaboration:

“Telangana has established itself as a leader in long-term digital initiatives, thanks to its progressive policies and robust infrastructure. This project aims not only to build sustainable infrastructure but also to create jobs and promote economic growth.”

Telangana as a leading tech destination

The Telangana region has proven to be fertile ground for tech investment, attracting major international players due to its focus on innovative policies and strong commitment to digital transformation. Hyderabad, in particular, has emerged as a crucial center for digital infrastructure, hosting several important tech hubs.

With this new campus, STT GDC India will further expand its presence in the state, strengthening its strategic goal of achieving 1 GW of designed capacity across India by this decade. Currently, the company already operates a data center in HITEC City, Hyderabad, and this project is a key step towards its ambitious investment goal of approximately USD 3.2 billion in the next decade.

Economic impact and sustainability

The project promises to be a driver for economic growth in Telangana, while also emphasizing sustainability as a key component. With a focus on clean energy technologies and optimized operations, the campus will align with global goals for emission reduction and energy efficiency.

The vision of STT GDC

STT GDC India is committed to supporting India’s digital transformation and contributing to the global digital economy. This new development in Telangana not only reinforces India’s position as a key destination for technology but also underscores the role of data centers as critical pillars for artificial intelligence applications, cloud computing, and the emerging digital economy.

With construction set to begin in the coming years, Telangana is one step closer to becoming a global leader in digital and technological infrastructure.
