Snowflake and OpenAI seal a $200 million strategic partnership to boost enterprise AI

Snowflake, the AI Data Cloud company, has announced a new and ambitious collaboration with OpenAI aimed at accelerating the adoption of AI agents in the business environment. The deal, valued at $200 million and spanning multiple years, reinforces both companies’ commitment to co-investment, joint innovation, and shared marketing strategies, with the goal of helping businesses extract greater value from their proprietary data through AI.

Thanks to this partnership, OpenAI’s models will be natively available to Snowflake’s more than 12,600 global customers via Snowflake Cortex AI. This will enable organizations like Canva and WHOOP to apply advanced models—including GPT-5.2—directly on their enterprise data, facilitating instant analysis, deeper insights, and the creation of customized AI solutions with tangible ROI.

Additionally, OpenAI’s models will be integrated into Snowflake Intelligence, the business intelligence agent that allows employees to query, analyze, and act on organizational knowledge using natural language, in a secure and governed manner.

“Bringing OpenAI’s models to enterprise data enables organizations to create and deploy AI on their most valuable assets on a secure and reliable platform,” said Sridhar Ramaswamy, Snowflake’s CEO. “This collaboration sets a new standard for AI innovation, helping companies transform with confidence without sacrificing security or compliance.”

Fidji Simo, CEO of Applications at OpenAI, highlighted that Snowflake is a key platform for managing critical business data. “This partnership brings our advanced models directly into that environment, enabling the deployment of AI agents and applications that connect technological capabilities with real business value,” she stated.

Companies like Canva and WHOOP have already recognized the impact of this collaboration. Canva’s Data Science Lead, Helen Crossley, emphasized that the integration of OpenAI models within Snowflake will enable rapid progress in new creative tools without compromising security or performance. Similarly, Matt Luizzi, Senior Director of Business Analytics at WHOOP, noted that this alliance will help them improve decision-making through more powerful and reliable AI agents.

The collaboration also includes joint development of new features, the creation of custom and interoperable AI agents, democratization of data access via natural language, and strong enterprise governance. Snowflake guarantees 99.99% uptime, along with built-in business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities—essential for large-scale AI initiatives.

This alliance builds on an existing relationship: OpenAI already uses Snowflake as a secure, scalable data platform for analysis and experimentation, while Snowflake internally employs ChatGPT Enterprise to enhance productivity and collaboration among its teams. Through this new agreement, Snowflake and OpenAI reaffirm their commitment to advancing responsible, practical, results-oriented AI for companies worldwide.
