Sesterce Boosts Europe’s Digital Sovereignty with $52 Billion Investment in AI

France moves forward in its ambition to become a global leader in artificial intelligence backed by Sesterce.

The tech company has announced an ambitious investment plan aligned with France’s national AI strategy, solidifying the country as a key player in European digital infrastructure. The initiative, presented at the AI Innovation Summit, not only marks a milestone for Sesterce but also strengthens the French AI ecosystem as a whole, a notable commitment by the Élysée.

A strategic bet on the future of AI in Europe

Artificial intelligence is transforming economies and industries worldwide. For Europe, the challenge is clear: ensure its technological sovereignty while leading in innovation and sustainability. In this context, Sesterce has designed a strategy to strengthen AI infrastructure in France and on the continent, based on the following pillars:

  • €52 billion in investment, supported by strategic public-private partnerships.
  • 1.5 GW of computing capacity, essential for training and deploying next-generation AI models.
  • 1.2 million GPUs by 2030, establishing Europe as a global powerhouse in artificial intelligence.

AI Infrastructure: Sesterce’s Three Major Projects

Sesterce’s plan will be implemented in several phases, involving the construction of key infrastructures for AI development in France and Europe.

1. Data Center in Valence

Located in Valence Romans Agglo, this state-of-the-art center will feature 40,000 GPUs and require an initial investment of €450 million, reaching €1.8 billion with hardware costs. Its function will be to support the training and inference of AI models and enhance high-performance computing.

2. Expansion in the Grand Est region

Sesterce plans to build two new data centers with 600 MW of capacity and 500,000 additional GPUs by 2028. The final phase aims to reach 1.2 GW and exceed one million GPUs by 2030.

3. Supercomputer in southern France

The most ambitious project is the installation of a next-generation supercomputer, with 250 MW of power and 200,000 GPUs. This system will position France as a reference in high-performance computing on a global scale.

Commitment to sustainability and employment

In addition to boosting digital competitiveness, Sesterce’s plan aligns with Europe’s environmental goals, promoting sustainable and responsible digital growth.

  • Reuse of industrial areas: Transforming old infrastructures into technological hubs.
  • Advanced liquid cooling: Closed-loop systems to reduce environmental impact and generate heating networks for nearby homes and industries.
  • Job creation: Establishing 5,000 new jobs by 2030 in areas such as engineering, research, industrial safety, electrical maintenance, and energy network management.

Enhancing European digital sovereignty

This investment plan not only reinforces France’s technological infrastructure but also consolidates Europe’s digital autonomy in a global context where AI has become a strategic asset.

  • Energy leadership: Utilizing decarbonized energy to sustainably power AI infrastructures.
  • Talent development: Strengthening the ecosystem of researchers, engineers, and AI specialists.
  • Alignment with national and European strategies: Supporting France’s vision to be among the top three leading powers in AI worldwide.

Beyond supercomputers: Sesterce’s AI Cloud

The company’s ultimate goal is to become the leading European provider of cloud services specialized in artificial intelligence, offering advanced solutions for:

  • Training AI models
  • Real-time inference
  • High-density data management

Building the future of AI in Europe

Sesterce’s project is the most ambitious and rapidly deployable AI infrastructure initiative in Europe. While other companies and governments discuss digital sovereignty, Sesterce is already building the infrastructure that will allow France and Europe to lead the artificial intelligence revolution.

From reactivating industrial areas to creating thousands of jobs, Sesterce’s vision goes beyond technology: it is a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and European digital independence.
