SEIDOR, the Barcelona-based technology consultancy, has announced a significant capital restructuring with the entry of Carlyle, one of the leading global investment firms. This strategic operation aims to propel SEIDOR towards a status of global leader in the technology solutions sector.
The transaction, which is currently pending approval by the National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC), involves Carlyle Europe Technology Partners (CETP) becoming the main shareholder of SEIDOR with a 60% stake, while the current partners will retain the remaining 40%. The transaction has been advised by a group of renowned firms, including BCG (Boston Consulting Group), Cuatrecasas, JP Morgan, KPMG, Linklaters, and Renta4Sigrun.
Josep Benito, who has served as the CEO until now, will assume the role of executive chairman of SEIDOR. Benito will continue to lead the company alongside the current management team, and the headquarters will remain in Vic, Barcelona.
Founded in 1982 by brothers Santiago and Andreu Benito, SEIDOR has experienced sustained double-digit growth in the past fifteen years. In 2023, the company achieved a revenue of 894 million euros, a 19% increase from the previous year, and it is estimated to surpass 1,000 million euros in 2024.
International Expansion and Strategic Diversification
With the addition of Carlyle, SEIDOR will enhance its ability to expand in key international markets, such as the United States and various countries in Western Europe, including Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, as well as the Nordic countries. The company will also continue to strengthen its presence in the 45 countries where it already operates, including Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.
SEIDOR plans to intensify its focus on strategic areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Customer Experience, Cloud, Cybersecurity, and ERP. The consultancy will continue to develop partnerships with tech giants like SAP, Salesforce, Microsoft, IBM, Google, and AWS, in addition to advancing its own product development.
Focus on Talent and Sustainability
The development of its team of over 9,000 professionals will be a priority for SEIDOR, which is also committed to reducing the digital divide and promoting diversity. The company will concentrate on sustainability initiatives and creating a positive impact on both the environment and society, aligning with its purpose of “humanizing the world through technology.”
Josep Benito emphasized that “the addition of Carlyle not only strengthens our financial capacity but also brings valuable experience in business management. This will allow us to advance our strategy of becoming a leading global technology company.”
Fernando Chueca, a Partner in the advisory team of CETP, highlighted that the transaction represents an excellent opportunity to support a leader in digital transformation and to develop a company with a strong position in key markets, both in Spain and the United States and Europe.
Recent Corporate Movements
In recent years, SEIDOR has expanded its presence through strategic acquisitions. In Spain, notable acquisitions include Gesein and Opentrends. In Italy, the company has acquired HT High Technology, GunPowder, and ECA Consult. In France, WorkWell was brought into the fold, while in Ireland and the United Kingdom, Teamsoft was added. In the United States, SEIDOR has bolstered its management team and established new strategic alliances.
Carlyle’s entry into SEIDOR’s capital marks a significant milestone in the consultancy’s trajectory, as it seeks to solidify its role as a key player in the global technology and services market.
