After the creation of the Global Clients Data Center Group in 2023, Securitas has taken a significant step in enhancing the skills of its security professionals by introducing a specific accreditation for managing the various security challenges in data centers.
The era of Big Data and cloud services has increased the relevance of data centers, which are essential for storing, processing, and distributing digital information. These centers are the backbone of daily digital experiences, from content streaming to financial operations management and communication tools. The global data center market is projected to grow at a compound annual rate of 10.9% until 2030, highlighting the importance of specialized security measures.
Specialized Training for a Growing Sector
In an effort to reinforce its commitment to top-tier security services, Securitas will train 10,000 employees to become certified professionals in data center security. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of services provided to these centers worldwide.
“The Certified Data Center Security Professionals Training is an example of Securitas’ efforts to offer security solutions tailored to market challenges,” said Bert den Hartog, vice president of Global Clients Data Centers. “With over 15,000 hours of training in total, participants will demonstrate their competence as the best in protecting high-security facilities.”
Key Areas of Training
The training will focus on areas such as physical access control, emergency response procedures, and adherence to ethical and professional conduct principles. Certified professionals will be experts in managing a wide range of security challenges, reducing the need for additional personnel and minimizing the risk of human errors.
“We recognize the crucial role of data centers in today’s digital landscape,” said Milton Plet, Senior Vice President and Head of the Securitas Data Center Group. “That is why Securitas invests in our professionals to ensure they have the expertise and capabilities necessary to provide the best protection to our clients.”
Commitment to Innovation and Security
The training is integrated into the Securitas Global Clients Academy, accessible to any data center security employee in their ongoing education. In Spain, the Securitas Institute will oversee the certification process for professionals safeguarding the country’s major data centers.
This initiative not only enhances Securitas’ team skills but also serves as a foundation course for new employees. Upon completion, participants receive the title of Certified Data Center Security Professionals, highlighting their expertise in safeguarding these infrastructures.
“Our exceptional data center clients showcase our leadership in this critical security field,” said Magnus Ahlqvist, President and CEO of Securitas. “Data center security is about ensuring business continuity and building trust in a highly complex and sensitive environment. Providing peace of mind to our clients, regardless of their global location, has never been more important.”
Towards a Secure Future
With this certification, Securitas positions itself at the forefront of data center security, anticipating the needs of a continuously growing sector. The company plans to introduce additional modules in the accreditation and launch more training courses, ensuring that its clients receive the highest level of security and protection in the new digital era.
