SAP Reinforces Its Commitment to Artificial Intelligence in Human Resources with the Acquisition of SmartRecruiters

The German tech company will integrate SmartRecruiters’ hiring software into its SAP SuccessFactors suite to enhance recruitment experience through AI and advanced automation.

SAP has announced an agreement to acquire SmartRecruiters, one of the leading providers of AI-powered talent acquisition software. The deal, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, aims to combine advanced automated recruiting capabilities, large-volume candidate management, and user experience within the SAP SuccessFactors platform.

This acquisition strengthens SAP’s position in the human capital management (HCM) solutions market, a critical area for organizations navigating the global talent war. Incorporating SmartRecruiters will allow SAP to offer its clients a unified platform to manage the entire candidate lifecycle—from sourcing and interviews to onboarding and data analysis.

A commitment to AI and hiring efficiency

SmartRecruiters, which currently serves over 4,000 organizations worldwide—including Amazon, Visa, and McDonald’s—stands out for its focus on automation and AI-driven recommendations. Its intuitive interfaces and integrated workflows will enable faster decision-making, reduce time-to-hire, and improve candidate experience.

Muhammad Alam, a member of SAP’s Executive Board and head of Product and Engineering, stated, “Hiring the right people is not just an HR priority; it’s a business priority. With this acquisition, we will help our clients attract and hire top talent more quickly and agilely, with lower total cost of ownership.”

Integrating with SAP SuccessFactors will offer a holistic view of talent, with embedded analytics and harmonized data for workforce planning, compliance, and user experience for both recruiters and candidates.

Positioning in a competitive market

The deal not only enhances SAP’s technological offerings but also aligns with the growing corporate interest in solutions that combine automation, AI, and digital experiences. In this context, acquiring SmartRecruiters supports SAP’s broader strategy to build a comprehensive AI-driven enterprise platform capable of delivering value across multiple areas—from operational efficiency to attracting key talent.

Rebecca Carr, CEO of SmartRecruiters, celebrated the agreement, saying, “Our mission has always been to make hiring easy. Joining SAP is a great opportunity to expand our vision globally and reshape the future of recruitment together.”

A transaction with no immediate impact on the standalone product

SAP confirmed that, at least in the short term, SmartRecruiters’ product portfolio will remain available as an independent solution, although it will gradually be integrated into the SAP ecosystem. Current clients will continue to use the solution as they do now, while also benefiting from future technological synergies.

Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. J.P. Morgan served as exclusive financial advisor to SmartRecruiters for this transaction.

With this move, SAP continues to strengthen its leadership in AI applications within the business realm, positioning itself as a key player in the digital transformation of human resources.
