Today, in an exciting announcement made at the GTC event, SAP SE and NVIDIA revealed an expansion of their partnership focused on accelerating the ability of enterprise customers to harness the transformative power of data and generative artificial intelligence in SAP’s cloud solutions and applications portfolio.
The companies are collaborating to build and deliver SAP Business AI, which includes scalable and business-specific generative AI capabilities within SAP’s Joule co-pilot and across SAP’s cloud solutions and applications portfolio, all supported by SAP’s generative AI hub. This hub enables relevant, reliable, and responsible enterprise AI, providing instant access to a wide range of large language models (LLMs).
As part of SAP’s ongoing initiative to integrate generative AI directly into the applications that drive the world’s businesses, the partnership aims to help customers adopt generative AI capabilities at scale in their organizations. SAP will utilize NVIDIA’s generative AI casting service to tailor LLMs to specific domain scenarios and deploy applications with the new NVIDIA NIM microservices. SAP and NVIDIA plan to make the new integrated capabilities available by the end of 2024.
Christian Klein, CEO and Executive Board Member of SAP SE, highlighted that enterprise customers are looking to leverage cutting-edge technology that delivers real business value. Strategic technological partnerships, like the one between SAP and NVIDIA, are crucial to SAP’s strategy of investing in technology that maximizes the potential and opportunities of AI for businesses. NVIDIA’s expertise in delivering AI capabilities at scale will help SAP accelerate the pace of transformation and better serve its cloud customers.
Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, remarked that SAP sits on a goldmine of enterprise data that can be transformed into personalized generative AI agents to help customers automate their businesses. Together, NVIDIA and SAP will bring personalized generative AI to thousands of businesses worldwide that rely on SAP to drive their operations.
SAP and NVIDIA plan to collaborate to integrate generative AI into SAP’s cloud solutions, including the latest version of SAP Datasphere, SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), and RISE with SAP. SAP intends to build additional generative AI capabilities within SAP BTP using NVIDIA’s generative AI casting service, with NVIDIA DGX cloud supercomputing, NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, and NVIDIA AI Foundation models. These new capabilities are expected to form the basis for SAP’s development and deployment of generative AI for customers, accessible through the generative AI hub in SAP AI Core and SAP Datasphere.
Other generative AI initiatives include new capabilities for the Joule co-pilot, innovative use cases leveraging SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP SuccessFactors, and SAP Signavio, unifying AI data sources with SAP Datasphere, and using LLM for the ABAP programming language.
Once the models are ready for deployment in SAP’s cloud solutions, SAP plans to utilize NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, including NVIDIA NIM inference microservices and NVIDIA NeMo Retriever microservices. NVIDIA NIM can be used to accelerate and maximize inference performance on SAP’s accelerated infrastructure. With NVIDIA NeMo Retriever microservices, SAP plans to add RAG capabilities that enable generative AI applications to securely access data running on SAP software to enhance accuracy and insights. Customers can plan to use RAG on both SAP and third-party data.
This alliance between two tech giants promises to drive faster and more effective adoption of generative AI in enterprises, leveraging vast amounts of enterprise data and leading AI capabilities. Undoubtedly, it will mark a milestone in the digital transformation of global industries.
