The Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, through Red.es, has launched a key initiative to promote the digitalization of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and self-employed individuals in Spain. The program, called the Connectivity Voucher, offers grants of up to 3,000 euros to improve the digital connectivity of companies with fewer than 50 employees.
A boost of 48 million euros for digital transformation
The program, with a total budget of 48 million euros, aims to grant around 11,000 vouchers. This initiative complements other existing programs such as the Digital Kit and Consulting Kit, reinforcing the government’s commitment to modernizing the Spanish business fabric.
How the Connectivity Voucher works
The Connectivity Voucher offers grants for two main elements:
- An internet access solution via broadband network
- Aid for associated connectivity services
Companies that meet the established requirements can choose from a variety of services and solutions, including:
- Broadband internet access
- Fixed IP
- Professional WiFi
- Corporate mobile telephony
- Storage and backupBackup is a backup copy that is created and stored e… in the cloud (basic and advanced)
- Virtual switchboard
Requirements and application process
To access these grants, companies must meet certain requirements. For example, to qualify for broadband internet access, they must not currently have a connection of 100 Mbps downstream, nor have had it in the last 3 months.
The application process involves several steps:
- Consult the Catalog of Connectivity Services and Solutions
- Sign a pre-contract with the chosen Service Provider
- Fill out the web form on the Red.es electronic headquarters
Applications can be submitted from September 10 to December 30, 2024, and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Expected impact and support
This initiative aims to accelerate the digital transformation of SMEs and self-employed individuals, key elements in the Spanish economy. To facilitate the process, Red.es has set up a telephone and email support service to address questions from both beneficiaries and Service Providers.
With the Connectivity Voucher, the Spanish government takes another step in its digitization strategy, offering tangible tools for small businesses to compete in an increasingly digital and globalized market.
