Rackspace Technology Launches NVIDIA-Powered On-Demand GPU Service to Accelerate Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

Rackspace Technology® (NASDAQ: RXT), a leader in hybrid, multicloud, and artificial intelligence technology services, has announced the expansion of its Rackspace Spot platform with a new location and an innovative GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) offering powered by NVIDIA acceleration technology. This launch addresses the growing demand for computational power, which IDC projects will have a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 40.5% in AI data center capacity through 2027.

The GPU-enabled platform of Rackspace Spot is hosted in the new data center SJC3 facility of Rackspace, located in Silicon Valley. This facility, designed from the ground up with the latest OpenStack technology, offers enhanced performance and greater reliability. “The new location in San Jose (SJC3) expands Spot’s global presence to seven centers, improving our customers’ experience on the West Coast of the United States by reducing latency and providing faster access to resources,” said Lance Weaver, Director of Products and Technology for Rackspace’s Private Cloud.

New class of servers with NVIDIA H100 GPUs

Rackspace Spot also introduces a new class of servers equipped with NVIDIA acceleration technology, specifically the NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPU. Among the advanced configurations, the virtual server GPU H100 v2.Mega Extra-Large stands out, offering:

  • One NVIDIA H100 GPU
  • An Intel 8568Y CPU optimized for accelerators, with 48 hyper-threading cores
  • 128 GB of memory
  • Advanced storage and networking capabilities

This new virtual server enables customers to significantly reduce processing times on complex tasks and improve operational efficiency, powering applications for artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics.
