QNAP Launches Qsync 6.0 Beta: An All-in-One Solution for File Synchronization and Backup

The new version unifies synchronization, backup, and collaboration in a single environment for QNAP NAS, with enhanced features for hybrid work and private control.

The tech company QNAP Systems, Inc. has announced the launch of Qsync 6.0 Beta, a revamped version of its file synchronization and backup platform designed for NAS (Network-Attached Storage) users. This new step solidifies Qsync as a comprehensive solution for data management, integrating device synchronization, flexible backup, version recovery, and remote collaboration in a more intuitive and secure way.

“Qsync version 6.0 transforms an essential synchronization tool into a complete data protection solution,” stated Jimmy Tan, Product Manager at QNAP. “In the face of data loss scenarios, version conflicts, or hybrid work environments, Qsync allows users to keep their files protected, synchronized, and always accessible.”

Scheduled Backups with Version Recovery

One of the main new features of Qsync 6.0 is the addition of scheduled backups for files and folders from Windows® machines—and soon macOS®—to QNAP NAS devices. The tool allows for setting up real-time, scheduled, or manual backups, providing flexible protection for important files.

Additionally, support for multiple version copies and recovery based on specific points in time allows users to restore documents even after accidental deletion or hardware failures.

Smart Synchronization Between Devices

Qsync maintains its synchronization philosophy by supporting unidirectional or bidirectional synchronization rules, allowing files and folders to stay automatically updated across NAS, computers, and mobile devices.

One of the standout features is the offline mode, which enables access and editing of documents without an internet connection, syncing automatically upon reconnection. It also includes a space-saving mode that downloads files only when accessed, reducing local storage usage.

Efficient and Controlled Collaboration

The new Qsync promotes team collaboration through shared team folders, ensuring that all users work on the most updated versions of documents. It also allows for file sharing via secure links, facilitating work with external collaborators without compromising data integrity.

Private Cloud with Business Control

When combined with a QNAP NAS, Qsync 6.0 acts as a private cloud with enterprise functionalities, without the recurring costs or security risks associated with third-party cloud services. It also provides a centralized access and security management system, which includes features like remote device wipe, file policy management, and backup device administration.

Available Now in Beta Version

QNAP has made Qsync 6.0 Beta available for download from its official site, inviting both individual users and organizations to test this evolution of its file management ecosystem. The final version is expected to be available in the coming months, following feedback collection and adjustments based on community input.

Summary: With Qsync 6.0 Beta, QNAP offers a unified solution for backup and synchronization that meets the needs of hybrid work and advanced file protection. By combining versatility, security, and user-friendliness, the company strengthens its commitment to a smarter and more controlled private cloud.
