pureLiFi Unveils Kitefin XE, the Next-Generation LiFi System for Secure Communications in Defense and Enterprises

EDINBURGH, Scotland. – The Scottish company pureLiFi has announced the launch of Kitefin XE, its most advanced LiFi wireless communication system to date, aimed at enhancing network security in a global landscape of increasing cyber threats. This system, which was previously reserved for national security, is now opening up for the first time to governments, the defense sector, businesses, and other environments requiring secure wireless communications.

Light-Based Technology for Maximum Security

Kitefin XE utilizes LiFi (Light Fidelity) technology, which transmits data through invisible light rather than the usual radio frequencies (RF) used in WiFi or mobile networks. This provides crucial security advantages: the LiFi signal is extremely difficult to intercept, cannot be detected or interfered with by traditional methods, and is resistant to jamming, one of the biggest risks in sensitive environments like defense, government offices, or businesses with high confidentiality needs.

In addition to security, the system promises transmission capabilities far superior to conventional WiFi and ultra-low latency, significantly enhancing the user experience in critical applications. According to pureLiFi, deploying Kitefin XE enables high-speed wireless connectivity in scenarios where it was previously unfeasible due to security concerns, increasing the viability and success of sensitive missions.

From National Security to Business

Initially developed for the U.S. national security community and tested in highly demanding environments, Kitefin XE is now reaching a broader audience. The system offers LiFi coverage of over 80 square meters and transmission capabilities in the gigabits per second (Gbps) range, establishing itself as the most powerful solution on the market in its category, compliant with the IEEE 802.11bb standard.

“Protecting sensitive data, from national secrets to intellectual property and business data, is increasingly challenging. Kitefin XE enables wireless communications in previously impossible locations, providing confidence and protection in an environment where cybersecurity is critical,” says Alistair Banham, CEO of pureLiFi.

Ease of Integration and Tactical Deployment

Kitefin XE is compatible with Ethernet and fiber optic infrastructures and is based on IEEE 802.11 protocols, making it easy to integrate into existing networks. The Kitefin family has already been deployed in the U.S. military, including tactical and office versions, marking the first large-scale deployment of LiFi in military environments.

Support from In-Q-Tel (IQT), the nonprofit strategic investor in the U.S. national security ecosystem, has been key to the evolution of pureLiFi. “This innovation has the potential to transform how we approach wireless connectivity and maintain business security in today’s threat landscape,” comments Clayton Williams, managing director of IQT.

A New Standard in Secure Wireless Communications

Kitefin XE represents a leap forward for the secure communications industry, paving the way for high-performance wireless networks that offer maximum protection against espionage, sabotage, or external intrusions. According to pureLiFi, LiFi technology will be crucial for sectors such as defense, government, critical industry, and any business concerned about the confidentiality and integrity of its data.
