Oracle Red Bull Racing, the multi-champion team of Formula 1, has announced an expansion of its use of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance its performance both on and off the track in the 2025 season.
Technological Innovation for On-Track Success
Since it started its collaboration with Oracle in 2021, the team has increased its strategic simulation speed by 25%, providing a key advantage in decision-making for each race. For 2025, Oracle Red Bull Racing will integrate:
- OCI Compute A2 and A4 Flex, boosting simulation speed by 10%, allowing for more tests and evaluations of different scenarios before and during each Grand Prix.
- Standard infrastructure from the factory to the track, utilizing Oracle Virtualization, Oracle Linux, and Oracle Cloud Native Environment throughout its operations, eliminating task duplication and reducing operational costs.
AI and Oracle Cloud to Transform F1 Strategy
Oracle Red Bull Racing will integrate new generative AI (GenAI) tools in the pit wall, improving responsiveness to sports regulations. Oracle has developed a solution based on RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) and language models (LLM) that enables:
- Real-time consultation of historical regulations, optimizing the review of regulations within the 30-minute window to contest penalties.
- Accelerated decision-making during races, providing accurate and well-founded answers about previous regulations.
Additionally, Oracle Cloud will support the development of the new hybrid engine from Red Bull Ford Powertrains for 2026. Through OCI, the team will optimize performance and reliability simulations in the transition from prototype to production.
Increased Fan Engagement
Since 2021, Oracle has powered The Paddock, a loyalty platform based on Oracle CrowdTwist Loyalty and Engagement with hundreds of thousands of members across 156 countries. This technology has allowed Oracle Red Bull Racing to enhance its interaction with fans through:
- Exclusive content personalization.
- Rewards for registered members.
- Immersive digital experiences.
Oracle and Red Bull Racing: A Strategic Alliance
The team continues to expand its use of Oracle Cloud to establish itself as one of the most innovative teams in Formula 1. Karan Batta, Senior Vice President of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, highlighted the importance of this collaboration:
“Oracle Red Bull Racing applies the same relentless pursuit of performance in its technology strategy as it does on the track. Our joint efforts demonstrate the power and flexibility of Oracle Cloud to drive innovation.”
The 2025 F1 season will kick off with the Australian Grand Prix from March 14 to 16 in Melbourne, where Oracle Red Bull Racing will aim to continue dominating the competition with the support of Oracle technology.
