Oracle achieves ‘Certified Strategic’ certification for its infrastructure in Australia

Oracle Corporation has announced that its Oracle Cloud for the Government and Defence of Australia has achieved certification under the Hosting Certification Framework (HCF) at the highest level, known as ‘Certified Strategic’. This achievement will allow Australian government clients, including defense departments, to leverage cloud innovation and artificial intelligence capabilities while adhering to the highest security standards.

Security for Critical Workloads

With this certification, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) can manage critical workloads that require protection at all levels of government, from local to federal. According to Rand Waldron, Vice President of Sovereign Cloud at Oracle, “Australian government clients rely on Oracle Cloud to run their most critical workloads. This certification enables us to provide the highest security standards for workloads classified as PROTECTED, facilitating the seamless migration and efficient management of these workloads in the cloud.”

Advanced Capabilities and Commitment to Security

Oracle Cloud’s infrastructure for the Government and Defence of Australia is physically isolated from the company’s other public and government regions and offers over 100 OCI services. These include high-performance computing (both virtual and physical machines), storage (block, object, and file storage with immutable capabilities), databases such as Oracle Exadata Cloud Service, key management, load balancers, among others. These tools ensure secure support for modern and critical applications such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and simulations.

Stephen Bovis, Regional Director of Oracle for Australia and New Zealand, emphasized that “achieving HCF certification underscores our unwavering commitment to providing innovative technology for government, ensuring the highest levels of security and resilience. Protecting critical data and infrastructure is a priority for the Government of Australia and its citizens.”

Global Certification and Security Standards

In addition to the HCF recognition in Australia, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure has achieved key international certifications, such as SOC, ISO, PCI, and HIPAA, along with the IRAP certification at the PROTECTED classification within the country. These accreditations demonstrate Oracle’s commitment to security and its ability to meet the specific needs of the public sector worldwide.

The HCF compliance status is available on the official website of certified HCF providers, and clients can request the certificate directly.

With this certification, Oracle reinforces its position as a leader in cloud solutions for the public sector, supporting the Australian government’s critical missions with advanced technology and global security standards.
