Artificial Intelligence is a technology still in development and its adoption by Spanish companies has a lot of room for growth. Despite this, its implementation is a reality in the daily operations of 45.5% of Spanish companies that have already implemented AI in functions related to data analysis, task optimization, process automation, and customer service, through different services and virtual assistants.
Regarding the future impact of AI on jobs, the same report predicts that the expansion of its use will mean that 15.9% of current jobs (3.24 million) could benefit from AI to increase productivity, in addition to the creation of 1.61 million new jobs in the next decade. In this context, only 13% of Spaniards openly admit to being afraid of losing their jobs due to AI.
As explained by Wehumans, the pioneer in the development of generatively trained digital humans with AI, the advancement of AI tools will not only focus on reducing workloads but on increasing productivity. In 2024, AI will solidify its position as a partner to human skills so that workers can focus on productivity and efficiency. Gartner has identified digital humans as one of the five technologies that will transform the digital future of organizations. These AI-driven virtual assistants are based on large-scale language models known as Foundational Language Models (LLMs). They can process natural language and integrate with various systems through connections to proprietary databases, RPA implementations, and automation use. This enables them to maximize their communication abilities, understanding the user by voice, text, or gestures on the screen, and transmitting messages efficiently and effectively in the shortest time possible.
“In addition to lightening workloads, AI tools increase productivity in repetitive and mundane tasks, allowing professionals to focus on creative activities, address higher-value tasks for their businesses, and promote innovation. While AI can play a critical role in productivity, it is important to understand its limitations and ethical implications to ensure governance, trust, fairness, reliability, robustness, effectiveness, and data protection,” explains Carlo Villegas, director of Wehumans. “Digital humans have emerged in response to the growing need for companies to interact with their customers or users in digital environments. Our digital humans are intended to become valuable collaborators for professionals such as doctors, lawyers, software developers, and customer service agents, among others. Their implementation promises to significantly improve productivity, service quality, and user experience.”
Engineering in AI and ML, among the 25 most demanded professions in Spain
The evolution of technologies such as artificial intelligence and automation has led to the emergence of both new opportunities and significant challenges for the labor market. This new paradigm is determined by the emergence of highly specialized AI (Traditional and Generative) and machine learning profiles among the most demanded professions in Spain. Among the 25 positions that have experienced the most demand growth in the last five years, the role of artificial intelligence engineer has appeared. This position is responsible for designing, developing, and directing the implementation processes of the company’s AI strategy.
Furthermore, the list compiled by the professional social network has highlighted the high demand for the machine learning engineer profile, also known as a machine learning engineer. This professional designs and develops algorithms and machine learning systems (traditional AI) for a company; they also investigate the application of this technology to business needs. In both cases, the main required skills are artificial intelligence, traditional or generative computing. Among the employment sectors, technology, information and the internet, IT consulting, and engineering services stand out.
“One of the main added values that artificial intelligence brings to the job market is the versatility of profiles necessary for its development, ranging from engineers, computer scientists, designers, or linguists. In our case, behind Wehumans, there is a multidisciplinary team composed of experts in Artificial Intelligence, 3D design, conversational linguistics, cloud development, front and back, as well as digital marketing and even sales. This team has dedicated years to developing technology that provides advanced digital solutions designed to meet the needs of a wide variety of companies and businesses. While our digital humans represent the face of the company, the soul is made up of each professional in the team who leads the new era of humanized technology,” Villegas points out.
