Okta and Palo Alto Networks strengthen identity threat security with AI-driven unified architecture

The new integrations enable automated responses to threats, conditional access control to applications, and reduced operational complexity for businesses.

In a context where identity attacks have become more sophisticated and demand real-time responses, Okta and Palo Alto Networks have announced an expanded strategic partnership to integrate their AI-driven cybersecurity capabilities. The goal: to secure access to corporate data from any device, reduce risks, and streamline incident response.

The integration between Okta Workforce Identity and Palo Alto Networks’ Prisma Access Browser introduces a new method of conditional access, restricting the use of SSO applications exclusively through Prisma’s secure browser. Meanwhile, the Identity Threat Protection solution with Okta AI now joins Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex SecOps platform, including Cortex XSIAM and Cortex XDR, to provide a unified view of identity-related risks across the entire enterprise environment.

“AI is powering attacks against credentials, which requires an equally AI-based response. Alongside Palo Alto Networks, we’re enhancing platform interoperability to eliminate silos, protect authentication, and give our customers a comprehensive view of their security posture,” said Stephen Lee, Vice President of Technology Partnerships at Okta.

From Palo Alto Networks, Pam Cyr, Vice President of Technical Alliances, added: “Identity is a fundamental pillar of cybersecurity. These integrations strengthen our joint architecture and help clients achieve a balance between advanced security and an optimized user experience.”

Comprehensive and Frictionless Protection

These integrations arrive at a critical time, as organizations face increasingly complex IT environments driven by hybrid work, widespread cloud service usage, and the proliferation of SaaS applications. The new capabilities offer tangible benefits:

  • Secure access from any device: By combining Workforce Identity and Prisma Access Browser, employees can access corporate web applications from managed or unmanaged devices without compromising organizational security. Security teams also gain detailed visibility and control over application usage and browsing activity.

  • Unified threat detection and automatic response to identity threats: With Cortex XSIAM and XDR integrated, automatic measures can be applied, such as revoking access, closing active sessions, or isolating endpoints in response to suspicious activity—all without manual intervention and with sufficient context for quick decision-making.

A Market-Aligned Strategy

Maxine Holt, Vice President of Research at Omdia, emphasizes: “Security leaders need integrated platforms, not disconnected tools. Combining identity and security with an AI-first approach reduces complexity and effectively covers the attack surface.”

The virtual event, “Zero Friction Defense: Where Identity Meets Security,” hosted by both companies, will showcase these solutions in depth. It takes place on July 15 at 19:00 CET and is open to the public with prior registration.
