Nxtra by Airtel Leads AI Implementation in Data Centers in India

Nxtra by Airtel, one of the leading data center companies in India, has announced the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in its facilities, becoming the first data center in the country to utilize this advanced technology to improve operational and energy efficiency. This initiative aligns with the company’s vision to build modern digital infrastructures that are “smart by design and sustainable by choice.”

The initial implementation was carried out at Nxtra’s data center in Chennai, using the SmartSense platform developed by infrastructure technology leader Ecolibrium. Based on this experience, the company plans to expand these capabilities to all its major data centers in India.

Operational Transformation through AI

Nxtra by Airtel has set ambitious efficiency goals through the integration of AI and machine learning (ML) algorithms, which include:

  • 10% increase in asset lifespan through real-time performance analysis and preventive maintenance recommendations.
  • 10% reduction in non-IT energy consumption by early identification of deviations and energy losses in equipment.
  • 15% improvement in equipment performance through AI-driven fault detection and diagnosis.
  • 25% increase in productivity via smart and proactive insights to optimize data center operations.

Ashish Arora, CEO of Nxtra by Airtel, stated: “Our collaboration with Ecolibrium and the integration of AI at the core of our operations strengthens our commitment to building sustainable, state-of-the-art data centers. With this technology, we can provide our customers with superior experiences while advancing toward our energy efficiency goals.”

Collaboration with Ecolibrium

The partnership between Nxtra and Ecolibrium marks a milestone in the digitization of critical infrastructure. According to Chintan Soni, CEO of Ecolibrium, the SmartSense platform operates at over 500 sites worldwide, providing real-time analytics that enable organizations to reduce energy costs and enhance productivity. “Nxtra’s experience in building sustainable digital infrastructure, combined with our AI technology, sets a new standard for data center operations in India,” added Soni.

A Sustainable and Connected Future

In addition to optimizing the performance of data centers, Nxtra by Airtel aims to double its existing capacity to reach over 400 MW in the coming years, thereby establishing itself as the largest data center operator in India. This expansion includes a strong commitment to sustainability, with a goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2031 through the adoption of green energy, efficient processes, and responsible business practices.

Nxtra already operates in over 120 locations in India, providing services to large enterprises, SMEs, startups, and government entities. By integrating AI into its operations, the company not only ensures superior performance but also reinforces its ability to deliver innovative solutions in a highly competitive market.

With this initiative, Nxtra by Airtel reaffirms its position as a leader in the data center sector and as a key player in India’s technological and sustainable advancement.
