NIXVAL guarantees 100% availability during the power outage on April 28.

The data center in Paterna (Valencia) operated normally during the more than 10 hours of national power outage, thanks to its backup systems and a team trained to manage critical situations without impacting services.

On a day marked by the largest power outage in Spain in decades, NIXVAL confirmed that its data center in Paterna maintained 100% operations during the 10 hours and 3 minutes of power unavailability. It did so without service degradation or impact on its clients’ technological infrastructure.

Thanks to a redundant electrical design, high-capacity generators, and rigorously tested protocols, the center continued to function as planned, demonstrating real resilience and planning.

Guaranteed Power: Minimum 48 Hours, Indefinite Potential

The NIXVAL data center has a guaranteed minimum electrical autonomy of 48 hours in the worst-case scenario. This figure can be extended practically indefinitely thanks to logistical agreements for fuel replenishment, making its facilities among the best prepared on the Mediterranean coast.

During the incident, the generators automatically kicked in, as specified in the internal operational procedures. From that point on, the data center operated entirely on backup energy without any anomalies.

“The blackout was a critical situation at the national level, but everything in our facilities worked as planned. The prior preparation and commitment of our team were key,” said the technical management at NIXVAL.

Design and Practice: Keys to Success

NIXVAL’s response was not the result of improvisation. All systems—especially the electrical—have been designed, maintained, and carefully tested, including regular drills for total network failures.

The technical staff receives continuous training and regularly executes emergency protocols to ensure that, in the face of real incidents like the one on April 28, the response is immediate, coordinated, and effective.

A Stronghold for Critical Infrastructure

During the blackout, many companies and public organizations were affected by the supply interruption. However, NIXVAL’s clients housed in its Paterna data center suffered no loss of connectivity, service outages, or performance degradation, which is especially valuable in sectors like finance, healthcare, electronic administration, and online commerce.

“Our commitment to operational continuity is absolute. That’s why we constantly invest in infrastructure, training, and responsiveness,” they added.

Conclusion

The case of NIXVAL is an example of how a regional data center can achieve international reliability standards when technological investment, operational foresight, and a culture of resilience are combined.

The national blackout was a challenge… but also a validation. And NIXVAL rose to the occasion.
