Microsoft has inaugurated a Digital Sales Center in Barcelona, aimed at providing services to businesses from thirteen European countries, including Spain, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, and Switzerland.
This new center joins the existing ones in Dublin (Ireland) and Cairo (Egypt), thus completing the network of Microsoft Digital Sales Centers in the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) region.
A Boost to Digital Talent in Barcelona
The Barcelona Hub has launched with an initial team of 44 employees from nine different nationalities, with a 59% female workforce. However, Microsoft plans to expand its team to reach 250 employees in the coming months. The company is currently in the hiring process, seeking technical specialists, cloud architects, and solutions specialists, among other positions.
According to David Hernández, director of Microsoft Ibérica, the choice of Barcelona to host this center reflects the company’s commitment to developing digital talent in the region and the city’s growing appeal as a leading tech hub in Europe. In fact, the Microsoft Hub will have employees from various countries and will operate in ten languages, including Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, and Dutch.
Barcelona, the Epicenter of Digital Talent in Europe
Barcelona has established itself as one of the most active cities in generating and attracting digital talent. According to the Digital Talent Overview Report prepared by Mobile World Capital, the city currently boasts over 122,000 digital professionals, following the addition of 13,500 new ICT specialists in 2023, representing a growth of more than 12% compared to the previous year.
Moreover, more than 5,000 foreign professionals joined companies in Barcelona last year, and one in every three digital workers in the city comes from other countries, reinforcing its appeal as an international tech hub.
With the opening of this new Digital Sales Center, Microsoft strengthens its presence in Spain and enhances Barcelona’s role as a nerve center for digital talent and innovation in Europe.
