Microsoft Launches Windows 365 Link: the First Dedicated Cloud PC Device

Microsoft has announced the launch of Windows 365 Link, the first dedicated device designed to connect securely and efficiently with Windows 365, its Cloud PC solution. This innovative device, specifically designed to maximize productivity, simplify endpoint management, and reinforce security, will be available for pre-sale in selected markets starting in April 2025, with a price of $349.

A solution designed for modern productivity

Windows 365 Link promises to transform work environments by providing users with quick and hassle-free access to their cloud desktop experience. The device allows users to log in within seconds and continue working exactly where they left off. With support for dual 4K monitors, four USB ports, Ethernet connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3, it is designed to fit a wide range of work settings, both in offices and shared spaces.

The local processing capability of Windows 365 Link ensures a smooth experience during meetings and video conferences, including optimization for Microsoft Teams and future compatibility with Cisco Webex. Additionally, its compact design (120 mm x 120 mm x 30 mm) makes it ideal for mounting behind monitors or placing discreetly on a desk.

Key features

  1. Advanced security:
    • Windows 365 Link operates with a locked operating system that does not allow for the installation of local applications or data storage on the device, drastically reducing the risk of attacks.
    • Includes passwordless authentication options through Microsoft Entra ID, allowing for multi-factor authentication using apps like Microsoft Authenticator or USB FIDO security keys.
  2. Simplified management:
    • The device is fully manageable through Microsoft Intune, enabling administrators to configure and monitor endpoints efficiently alongside existing PCs.
    • Updates are automatically downloaded in the background and applied overnight to minimize interruptions.
  3. Sustainability:
    • Constructed with recycled materials, including 90% post-consumer recycled aluminum in its outer shell and 100% recycled copper in its motherboard.
    • ENERGY STAR® certified, with low energy consumption ideal for organizations with sustainability goals.

Corporate use and benefits

Windows 365 Link has been designed to facilitate the integration of Cloud PC in businesses of various sizes, from large corporations to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). During the pilot phase, more than 40 organizations tested the device, highlighting its ease of setup, enhanced security, and ability to connect to Cloud PC within seconds.

According to Roman Kleyn, Director of Workspace Design at KRONES AG, “Windows 365 Link has revolutionized our plant operations by allowing workers to quickly resume their work when shifting between stations. Its integration with Microsoft Intune and secure design significantly simplify IT management.”

Meanwhile, Daniel Bowker, Senior Consultant at Phoenix Software, noted: “Windows 365 Link is a secure and efficient option for organizations looking to modernize their endpoint strategy by connecting users to Cloud PC in seconds.”
