The Taiwanese company unveils an ambitious roadmap for ubiquitous and collaborative artificial intelligence, with solutions that span from connected homes to data centers and smart cars.
MediaTek has kicked off its participation in Computex 2025 under the slogan “AI for Everyone: From Edge to Cloud”, marking its most ambitious commitment to inclusive, distributed, and collaborative artificial intelligence. During his keynote speech, Dr. Rick Tsai, the company’s CEO, outlined how AI, 6G, and hybrid computing will transform the digital experience across all sectors.
From IoT devices to platforms for data centers, MediaTek showcased a series of innovations aimed at democratizing access to generative AI and facilitating its global implementation.
Hybrid AI: Unified Connectivity and Computing
MediaTek proposes a new paradigm of hybrid computing that integrates computing resources and communications to eliminate information silos among AI agents. As an example, it presented the first 5G Generative Gateway, a device that combines its 5G FWA platform with local generative AI capabilities, offering high performance, advanced privacy, and low latency. This innovation has received the Computex Best Choice Award.
Through its AI Hub solution, MediaTek also showcased a vision of the smart home where multiple AI devices collaborate as personal assistants. In collaboration with NVIDIA, they presented an edge cloud environment, where the Radio Access Network (RAN) combines with distributed computing resources in devices, optimizing latency and real-time data control.
Miniature Supercomputing with NVIDIA
In the cloud realm, the strategic collaboration with NVIDIA has led to the DGX Spark, the world’s smallest supercomputer for AI, built with the NVIDIA GB10 Grace Blackwell chip and based on MediaTek’s custom ASIC design. This system offers up to 1,000 TOPS of performance and allows local execution of models with up to 200 billion parameters, bringing high-level AI computing to new audiences.
Dimensity Auto: AI for Connected Cars
MediaTek has also integrated AI into the automotive sector with its Dimensity Auto platform, which features:
- Cockpit C-X1, with generative AI for virtual assistants and support for Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos.
- MT2739, the first chip with 5G DSDA 3Tx technology for vehicles, which recognizes driving scenarios and optimizes the network automatically.
Additionally, a demo of eCall NG 5G was presented, enabling vehicles to make automated emergency calls after an accident.
IoT and Edge with Genio: AI for All Devices
The Genio platform continues to evolve as MediaTek’s offering for smart devices, from homes to industrial environments. At Computex, vertical solutions developed with partners like Advantech, ADLINK, and VIA were showcased, including motorcycle controllers, robotic arms, and service robots.
The latest version, Genio 720/520, incorporates generative AI capabilities, while its integration with NVIDIA TAO allows for the training of custom models from a unified interface compatible with Android, Yocto Linux, and Ubuntu.
Advances in Connectivity for Collaborative AI
MediaTek also showcased its new connectivity solutions aimed at distributed AI:
- Collaborative multi-antenna technology, allowing wearables to use the 5G/6G signal from nearby devices to enhance performance.
- AI-optimized Wi-Fi, capable of adjusting the signal and distributing bandwidth based on real-time usage.
- Premier presentation of its 5G-Advanced NTN solution over the Ku band for satellite communications.
Multimedia and Smart Displays with AI
Finally, MediaTek demonstrated its leadership in displays with:
- The first mini-LED RGB SoC with over 15,000 local dimming zones for large formats, providing 276% more brightness than OLED.
- The first 8K upscaler at 60Hz with AI that operates without an operating system, offering pixel-level processing, zero latency, and intelligent scene detection.
Conclusion
With these presentations, MediaTek positions itself as a key player in the race for accessible, efficient, and decentralized artificial intelligence, thanks to its expertise in connectivity, computing, and multimedia. From the edge to the cloud, the company demonstrates that its vision of “AI for everyone” is not just a slogan, but a reality in the making.
