Kyndryl and Nearby Computing partner to offer advanced edge computing services.

Kyndryl, a technology services firm, and Nearby Computing, a provider of edge orchestration and automation platforms, have announced a new collaboration to offer integrated edge computing services to their customers.

As part of this partnership, both companies have established an edge computing laboratory focused on Nearby Computing’s edge-to-cloud orchestration and automation platform, NearbyOne. Kyndryl will be responsible for managing the platform as a service (PaaS), with the goal of simplifying the deployment of enterprise applications at the edge for their clients.

“We are thrilled to partner with Kyndryl, a company that shares our vision for the future of the industry,” said Josep Martí, CEO of Nearby Computing. “Together, we are poised to redefine the landscape of edge computing and 5G, empowering businesses to fully leverage these transformative technologies.”

According to a 2023 Gartner report, it is expected that edge management and orchestration solutions will be adopted by 20 percent of large enterprises by 2027, up from less than 1 percent in 2023. Both companies highlight that the NearbyOne architecture, compliant with GSMA v6.0 platform requirements, supports integration with various applications.

The integration will leverage Kyndryl’s expertise in managing and integrating critical infrastructures to develop a diverse portfolio of pre-integrated applications tailored to different industries. These applications will be ready for activation, offering features such as deployment, application automation control, continuous KPI monitoring, and lifecycle management, according to Nearby Computing.

“We continue to collaborate with key IT providers whose technologies are essential for our clients’ innovation. The agreement with Nearby Computing allows us to add pioneering capabilities in an area with as much potential as edge computing,” added Noel Bravo, director of alliances and cloud at Kyndryl Spain.

Both companies agree that edge computing will become a significant area of focus and growth in the near future. Additionally, Nearby Computing has recently announced a strategic collaboration to simplify and automate Alea lifecycle applications through NearbyOne.

This alliance between Kyndryl and Nearby Computing represents a significant step towards optimizing and expanding edge computing, offering companies the ability to deploy and manage enterprise applications more efficiently and effectively.
