The world-leading company in the manufacturing of automotive transmissions, JATCO Ltd., has taken a decisive step towards digitalization by implementing Juniper Networks’ native AI-driven networking platform to provide an exceptional experience for both its employees and IT management team, improving its aging Wi-Fi network.
JATCO, a company backed by Nissan, Mitsubishi Motors, and Suzuki, has been a reference in the automotive industry since its foundation in 1970. Known for being one of the largest manufacturers of continuously variable transmissions (CVT) for vehicles with internal combustion engines, JATCO is now focused on mass production of electric propulsion systems, in line with the growth of electric vehicles in the global market.
However, in recent years, the company was facing significant challenges with its Wi-Fi network, which was essential for connecting its employees and devices at production sites and offices. The aging infrastructure led to constant maintenance issues and stopgap solutions, affecting the efficiency and productivity of its IT department.
The solution: an AI-driven network
To address these issues, JATCO decided to rely on Juniper Networks’ Mist AI™ technology, implementing Juniper AP43 and Juniper AP63 access points. This new solution not only improves connectivity but also offers advanced artificial intelligence tools that provide detailed insights into network performance and proactively solve problems.
The result has been a “triple win” for the company:
- For executives: increased productivity and significant return on investment have been achieved by reducing deployment costs and improving profitability.
- For employees: they now have reliable, high-performance, secure, and easy-to-use connections.
- For IT administrators: the platform has streamlined operations, reducing configuration errors and allowing the team to focus on innovation.
Cost reduction and experience improvement
The deployment of Juniper’s solution has allowed JATCO to cut its operational costs in half compared to other available options in the market. Additionally, network coverage has significantly improved, offering a better experience for all users.
According to Tomohisa Kobayashi, Manager of JATCO’s Digital Solutions Department, “Thanks to Mist, we have been able to address Wi-Fi needs that we couldn’t tackle before due to budget and staffing limitations. Operational simplicity and proactive issue resolution have been key to enhancing user experience.”
A future of expansion and digital transformation
After receiving positive feedback in the project’s initial phase, JATCO plans to continue expanding Juniper’s platform to all its sites in Japan. This may include complete replacement of access points at twelve locations and potential implementation of the Marvis Virtual Network Assistant, an additional tool to further enhance the network.
Juniper Networks is proud to be part of JATCO’s digital transformation. Hiroyuki Ishida, Juniper’s Japan Area Vice President, commented, “With Juniper’s native AI-driven networking platform, we are confident that JATCO will continue to deliver leading automotive products, as well as exceptional network connectivity for all its users, driving its business growth.”
This digital transformation will not only allow JATCO to improve its internal network but also position itself as an innovative leader in the automotive sector, aligning with the demands of an increasingly digitalized world.
