Cloud Computing Adoption

What percentage of your clients have migrated to the cloud, and how has this percentage evolved in recent years?

All our clients have their infrastructures in the cloud, starting from the premise that it is the core of our business. In recent years, we have seen exponential adoption of our cloud solutions driven by the trust our clients place in our secure, scalable, and high-performance infrastructure.

What are the main benefits your clients have observed by adopting cloud solutions?

Our clients have experienced a significant transformation in their operations since adopting our cloud solutions, primarily through cost savings, flexibility, and security that our solutions provide, as they can adjust resources to their needs without disrupting regular operations. Furthermore, the passion of our staff for their work allows us to deliver exceptional and personalized service.

The reliability and low latency of the platform is another benefit they gain from adopting our solutions.

Do you believe that cloud adoption in Spain is on par with other European countries? Why?

Cloud adoption in Spain has advanced significantly in recent years, although it still shows some differences compared to other European countries. While it has not reached the same levels, Spain’s geographical position in terms of connectivity and its push for cloud adoption may lead to significant advancements, possibly matching or even surpassing that of neighboring countries.

Multi-Cloud Environment

In your opinion, why are more companies choosing a multi-cloud environment instead of relying on a single provider?

Just like in other aspects of IT, specialization is a very important factor, making the need to locate providers for specific services essential. On the other hand, business continuity and redundancy require having a multi-cloud environment to mitigate the risks of a global failure from a single provider.

What are the main benefits of a multi-cloud strategy? And the main challenges?

As I mentioned earlier, the benefits are multiple, as tailored solutions address each company’s needs. Additionally, having a contingency plan with various providers ensures business continuity.

The main challenges are management complexity; for instance, in our case, we have a system for deployment, configuration, updates, security patch installation, etc., which facilitates deployment and maintenance. In other cases, users deploy by configuring their needs, and needing multiple different platforms complicates the process as it may result in additional work.

How do you help companies manage the complexity that arises when implementing a multi-cloud environment?

We have automated provisioning and management tools, and our staff has extensive knowledge and technical experience, so they are well accustomed to resolving highly complex technological challenges quickly.

Barriers to Cloud Adoption in SMEs

What main barriers are preventing SMEs from the mass adoption of cloud solutions?

Primarily the lack of technical resources within the SME, the belief that cloud solutions are expensive, without taking into account hidden costs like electricity and air conditioning, and the absence of a digital transformation strategy.

What are the most common concerns of SMEs regarding security and cost when migrating to the cloud?

One of the main concerns is the initial implementation and migration costs; the other is the potential difficulty in management, and lastly, the protection of sensitive data.

What solutions does your company offer to help SMEs overcome these obstacles?

We offer a clear and competitive pricing model. Regarding this, we provide solutions that adapt to each user’s needs; additionally, to address these concerns, we offer a personalized migration strategy that includes a detailed needs analysis and migration planning, as well as an easily manageable private VPN solution that ensures the protection of sensitive organizational data.

Migration and Complexity

What aspects of cloud migration are usually the most complex for companies? How do you help reduce this complexity?

In many cases, the systems are hosted on old equipment and sometimes without support. Therefore, we offer a customized migration strategy that includes a detailed needs analysis, challenges, and a technical plan to carry out the migration successfully.

What measures do you consider necessary for SMEs to have more confidence in migrating to the cloud?

As I mentioned earlier, because they often have very tight budgets, having adjusted costs without “surprises,” meaning they have a fixed cost not affected by traffic volume, number of connections, etc. On the other hand, the assurance that their data is protected through secure VPN connections, the strict security policies applied across our entire infrastructure, etc.

Have you noticed a difference in cloud adoption between industrial sectors (for example, financial services versus retail)?

Yes, due to the implementation of regulations such as DORA, ENS, and NIS2, in the financial sectors and what are considered essential entities and critical sectors.

Cloud Security

In terms of security, what challenges do companies face when migrating to the cloud?

Companies face several security challenges that require a comprehensive and preventive strategy to ensure their data and operations are always protected. Issues such as authentication, communication security, and vulnerability management are essential.

What are the most effective security measures you recommend implementing when working in the cloud?

The main security measures consist of a proactive strategy in applying security patches, avoiding unauthorized access attempts by blocking traffic, and reinforcing authentication and data access.

How do you address security in multi-cloud environments, especially considering the increase in cyberattacks on cloud platforms?

Security has different levels, but to summarize, our cloud environment has automated control systems that, upon detecting any type of unauthorized access, block the intruder at the network level, preventing access not only to that service but to any service within our network or that of our clients. The servers have minimal exposure as only necessary traffic is allowed, and certain more sensitive traffic is only permitted from one or a very limited set of IP addresses.

We offer, as I mentioned, access solutions via VPN to encrypt traffic and filter clients’ access to their servers as needed. Finally, all servers are subject to daily backups at a different location than where they are located and are replicated to another site if the client requires it.

The Role of Partners

What role do partners play in the success of a cloud migration?

Partners play a crucial role in the success of a cloud migration, as they provide experience, specialized technical knowledge, and a strategic approach that facilitates a smooth and successful transition. Planning, expertise in security, and adherence to best security practices in cloud computing and sector regulations (ENS, GDPR, etc.) ensure the migration’s success.

How do you ensure that migration projects are well-supported from planning to execution and maintenance?

We follow a structured and personalized approach that guarantees a smooth transition without surprises through a thorough analysis of needs and existing infrastructure. We carry out a personalized migration strategy that aims for minimal service disruption.

What additional services do you offer to help companies manage their cloud infrastructure after migration?

We have developed a management and control panel that allows orchestration and automation of all our cloud services, a highly redundant infrastructure that ensures 99.999% availability, enabling us to perform updates and maintenance tasks without downtime. Additionally, we offer specialized technical support available 24/7 to resolve any incidents, managed security, monitoring, and a wide portfolio of services.

Sustainability and the Future of Cloud

Do you believe that sustainability is becoming a key factor when choosing cloud solutions?

Yes, both the population and enterprises are becoming increasingly aware, and they see sustainability as a key factor. The cloud has recently acquired quite a poor reputation due to opinions based on reports from decades ago and some sensationalist articles.

How are you helping companies reduce their carbon footprint and energy consumption through cloud solutions?

At Tecnocrática, we are very aware of this, which is why adopting cloud technology with virtualization as a tool allows a few machines to absorb the computing power of hundreds of computers within companies, thus reducing their carbon footprint. Additionally, our data centers are designed to repurpose heat for hot water used in homes, schools, and businesses in the surrounding areas.

The future of the cloud is full of innovation and transformation; advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) will change the current concept, not just of the cloud, but also in the design of data centers, automation, optimization of resources, etc. Major advancements are expected in the coming years that will help improve, simplify, and optimize cloud management.
