Intel has revealed its plans for the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics in Paris, promising a revolution in the game experience through the implementation of AI-driven solutions. As the official global partner of the AI platform for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Intel is ready to introduce innovative AI experiences based on its hardware and software, which will enable a new way of interacting for fans, organizers, athletes, and spectators around the world.
Key AI implementations that Intel plans to highlight include an immersive sports experience that will allow fans to live the innovative technology used to measure athletic potential, and the first end-to-end 8K live broadcast of the games. In addition, Intel will seek to make advancements in universal accessibility at selected Olympic and Paralympic venues.
Sarah Vickers, leader of Intel’s Olympic and Paralympic Office, said, “This summer, Intel will accelerate its mission to bring AI everywhere using Intel solutions at Paris 2024, showcasing the powerful potential of technology and AI to create immersive and interactive experiences at the Olympic and Paralympic Games for millions of people worldwide.”
Paris 2024 is set to be one of the biggest events ever organized in France, with nearly 15,000 athletes and millions of spectators and viewers around the world through TV and digital platforms. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will integrate Intel’s AI platform technology throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games experience in three key areas.
On the ground in Paris, AI applications powered by Intel processors and software solutions will demonstrate the potential of technology to benefit athletes, coaches, and spectators before and during the games. Intel will create a fan activation with AI that will take viewers on a journey to become an Olympic athlete. Additionally, Intel’s technology will also drive advancements in accessibility for visually impaired individuals during the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Paris 2024 will be the first edition of the Olympic Games to use Intel Xeon processors to showcase an 8K live broadcast experience, providing a visible path to the future of low-latency 8K resolution live streaming over the internet.
AI automation will enable broadcasters to offer personalized digital content to viewers faster than ever before. Olympic Broadcasting Services, empowered by the Intel® Geti™ platform, will be able to instantly package personalized highlights, creating efficiencies in production and editing.
Intel will continue to develop and implement new AI technology applications in preparation for the Olympic Games, with additional activations expected in the coming months.
Intel’s legacy at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which began with the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, has accelerated the adoption of technological platforms such as 5G, virtual reality, drones, and AI to enhance the experience. Now, in Paris 2024, their collaboration will create an unprecedented Olympic experience, reaffirming the shared commitment to building a better world through sport.
