Ingram Micro analyzes the risks of artificial intelligence for companies’ cybersecurity.

Ingram Micro, the world’s leading distributor of IT services and solutions, successfully hosted the II Cybersecurity Event in Madrid. This event, titled ‘How to Enhance Security Against Threats from Artificial Intelligence’, brought together executives from Microsoft, Cisco, Barracuda, Datacore, Sonicwall, Okta, Sophos, and Zerto, as well as artificial intelligence expert Nestor Guerra, to analyze the impact of AI on cybersecurity and the new risks associated with this emerging technology.

An Industry-Relevant Event
Martin Trullas, Advanced Solutions Director at Ingram Micro, opened the event by highlighting the significance of this gathering to discuss the changes and challenges that artificial intelligence presents for cybersecurity. Alberto Pascual, Executive Director of Ingram Micro, emphasized the disruptive nature of AI in the digital industry, stressing that cybersecurity is not immune to these changes.

Presentations and Roundtable Discussions on Cybersecurity
The event kicked off with a presentation by Nestor Guerra, who explained that we are at the starting point of AI development and predicted a future with functional agents that exceed current capabilities. Subsequently, two thematic roundtable discussions were held with the participation of executives from leading companies in Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence.

In the first roundtable, titled ‘Current Challenges of Cybersecurity in the Cloud’, representatives from Barracuda, Microsoft Cloud, Zerto, and Okta discussed the best strategies to protect cloud activities against AI-empowered cyberattacks. Miguel Angel Lopez from Barracuda pointed out that AI-driven cyberattacks pose a significant challenge to business continuity, while Luigi Semente from Okta highlighted the inevitability of attacks and the importance of minimizing their impact.

AI as an Ally in Cybersecurity
The second roundtable discussion, ‘Artificial Intelligence, Threat or Ally in Cybersecurity?’, explored how AI can strengthen companies’ defenses through its predictive and real-time analysis capabilities. Juan Jose Oliver from Datacore emphasized the need to level the technological playing field against attackers, while Angel Ortiz from Cisco highlighted the increasing sophistication of attacks due to AI.

Sergio Martinez from SonicWall warned about the vulnerability of SMEs in terms of cybersecurity, and Carlos Galdon from Sophos concluded by noting the significant challenge of confronting these threats with advanced technological solutions.

Conclusion and Networking
The event concluded with a networking session and a cocktail, followed by an evening enlivened by a DJ. This day of learning and exchange, driven by Ingram Micro and its key partners, underscores the need for companies to adopt robust and professional solutions to successfully address the alliance between AI and cybercrime. Artificial intelligence can be both a threat and a powerful tool to enhance cybersecurity, and this event has been an important step in preparing companies for the future.
