Huawei launches Huawei Cloud Stack 8.3 to boost Industrial Intelligence in Africa.

Huawei has announced the launch of its Huawei Cloud Stack 8.3 during the Huawei Africa Connect 2024 conference, currently being held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The launch was presented in a keynote speech by Hu Yuhai, Vice President of Huawei Hybrid Cloud. Titled “Leap to the Cloud to Accelerate Industrial Intelligence,” the presentation highlighted how Huawei Cloud Stack provides reliable cloud infrastructure, innovative cloud service capabilities, and extensive industry knowledge to help government and enterprise customers in Africa accelerate cloud adoption.

In line with this goal, Huawei Cloud has increased its investments in Africa to support the development of the continent as a smart digital hub. This journey began in 2018 with the launch of Huawei Cloud’s first public cloud region in Johannesburg, South Africa, and continued with significant expansion in June 2024, with the opening of the first public cloud region in North Africa in Cairo, Egypt. Huawei Cloud has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing cloud providers in the world.

Driving Industrial Intelligence in Africa

During the conference, Huawei also hosted its “Leap2Cloud” event, which brought together over 300 business executives and industry leaders from various sectors such as government, finance, transportation, and energy in Sub-Saharan Africa. Attendees shared their insights and collaboratively explored paths to leap to the cloud.

In his keynote speech, Bai Yan, Head of Marketing and Sales Department for Huawei Cloud Solutions in South Africa, highlighted how Huawei Cloud Stack helps customers address challenges such as unforeseen issues with undersea optical cables, inefficient cloud resource procurement methods, and concerns about data sovereignty.

“Huawei Cloud Stack provides a secure and reliable cloud infrastructure, with over 110 cloud services and a diverse ecosystem of partners to help government and enterprise customers in Africa accelerate industrial intelligence,” explained Bai Yan.

Huawei Cloud is eager to enhance cooperation with industry customers and partners to develop tailored solutions for their needs in Africa and create a thriving local digital ecosystem.
