Huawei launches Cloud Stack 8.5 in the Middle East and Central Asia to accelerate industrial digitalization in the age of AI

At the Huawei Cloud Summit held during GITEX Global 2024, Hu Yuhai, vice president of Huawei Hybrid Cloud, announced the launch of Huawei Cloud Stack 8.5, the latest version of its hybrid cloud, targeted towards the Middle East and Central Asia markets. This solution aims to provide superior hybrid cloud infrastructure in the era of artificial intelligence, facilitating digital and intelligent transformation in key sectors such as government, telecommunications, finance, and energy.

“Huawei Cloud Stack offers superior hybrid cloud for governments and businesses in the region through a stronger infrastructure, diversified services, and industry-specific solutions,” said Hu Yuhai. Additionally, he emphasized that the new version provides over 120 cloud services and over 50 industry-specific solutions, helping companies accelerate their digital transformation.

The new version of Huawei Cloud Stack focuses on improving reliability, performance, and resource utilization. Key updates include:

– Smooth cloud operating system updates: This modular technology significantly reduces the time needed to update large clusters, allowing for quick and efficient updates. A customer in the financial sector reduced the update time for a cluster of 1,200 nodes from 21 days to just 5 hours.

– Ransomware defense: Huawei has enhanced security against ransomware attacks, covering 100% of known threats and using AI to detect unknown threats. The solution combines server, network, and backup collaboration to provide more comprehensive protection.

With over 120 available services, Huawei Cloud Stack has updated its offerings in databases and data processing, with enhancements in GaussDB optimizing transactional and analytical hybrid processing (HTAP). Additionally, version 8.5 implements Pangu 5.0 Models, making it easier for businesses to create custom AI models in hybrid cloud environments.

In terms of industrial solutions, Huawei Cloud Stack 8.5 targets over 50 specific scenarios in sectors such as finance, government, and telecommunications. The Mainframe-to-Cloud solution for the financial sector stands out, enabling a seamless and efficient transformation of core systems to the cloud.

As part of its strategy to lead digitalization in the Middle East and Central Asia, Huawei launched the Pioneer Hybrid Cloud Program in collaboration with entities such as the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC). This program aims to accelerate hybrid cloud adoption through over 10 specific scenarios, 30 migration tools, and the creation of 50 industry references.

Furthermore, HEC of Pakistan introduced its national education cloud powered by the unified platform of Huawei Cloud Stack, designed to provide high-quality digital educational services to over 4 million students in 450 higher education institutions.

According to a recent report from the consultancy firm Omdia, Huawei Cloud Stack is positioned as a leader in infrastructure and AI capabilities in the hybrid cloud market in the Middle East. The survey emphasizes Huawei’s proactive approach to optimizing the cloud experience and its suitability for training AI workloads.

Alan Qi, president of Huawei Cloud in the Middle East and Central Asia, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to constant innovation and the development of solutions tailored to the needs of its regional clients. “Our goal is to continue promoting the digital transformation of companies through efficient, secure, and intelligent cloud solutions,” he concluded.

Huawei Cloud Stack will continue to innovate to help governments and businesses migrate, manage, and utilize the cloud more efficiently, fostering a digital transformation that drives economic and technological growth in the region.
