Home Group, one of the largest housing associations in the UK, has completed the migration of its core back-office systems to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), as announced by Oracle today. Home Group’s decision to move its operations to the cloud aims to improve its operational agility, reduce costs, and support its continuous growth while strengthening its commitment to providing housing and social services to those most in need.
Home Group provides integrated housing, health, and social care services in England and Scotland, supporting 125,000 customers in over 56,000 homes. With the migration of its financial, planning, human resources, and purchasing systems to OCI, the organization has significantly improved the security of its data and infrastructure, as well as optimizing the performance of key applications such as payroll management and financial reporting.
Efficiency and savings in the cloud
The adoption of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure has allowed Home Group to access flexible, secure, high-performance computing resources that were not available in its previous on-premise systems. This transition has not only strengthened the security of its operations but also drastically reduced operating costs, enabling the organization to reinvest capital in areas where it is most needed, such as affordable housing development and support for vulnerable communities.
Simon Parker, Home Group’s Chief Information Officer, highlighted the importance of this digital transformation: “At Home Group, our goal has always been to build homes, independence, and aspirations to make a real difference in people’s lives, especially in times of economic uncertainty. Migrating our business platform to OCI provides us with the performance, security, and cost efficiencies we need to reinvest in our customers and their communities.”
The nonprofit sector embraces the cloud
The adoption of cloud technologies has rapidly grown in the UK nonprofit sector, and Home Group is at the forefront of this change. Nick Wallace, Vice President of Oracle Cloud Sales in the UK, emphasized the impact of the migration: “Home Group is one of the organizations leading this transformation, and with OCI, we are supporting their growth at a time when demand for their services is at its highest.”
With this migration to the cloud, Home Group has not only improved its technological efficiency but has also increased the sustainability of its operations, while continuing to focus on its mission of providing essential housing and services to those most in need in the UK.
