Hesai Technology Revolutionizes the Robotics Market with Its JT Series Miniature 3D Lidar at CES 2025

Hesai Technology, a global leader in lidar technology, showcased its innovative JT series of miniature 3D lidars at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Specifically designed for robotic applications, the JT series includes the JT16 and JT128 models, known for their compact design, lightweight build, and a hyper-spherical field of view of 360° x 187°, the widest in the world in its category. With this series, Hesai is redefining 3D perception for robots and industrial applications.

Innovative Features of the JT Series

1. Compact and Lightweight Design

  • The JT series features a minimum diameter of 55 mm, making it 30% smaller and 70% lighter than similar products, weighing only 200-250 grams.
  • Its design facilitates installation in a variety of robotic equipment, even in a hidden manner, thanks to its low surface height of just 30 mm.

2. Hyper-Spherical Field of View

  • The 187° vertical and 360° horizontal field of view exceeds that of traditional lidars by 60%, allowing for precise environmental detection, even at ground level and in extreme heights.
  • This design enhances accuracy in navigation and obstacle recognition.

3. Interference-Free Perception and Climate Adaptability

  • Equipped with Hesai’s proprietary anti-interference technology, the lidar operates efficiently in low light or under intense sunlight.
  • The JT series filters out 99.9% of noise caused by rain or fog, ensuring optimal performance in any weather.

4. Seamless Integration and High Energy Efficiency

  • It consumes just 4 W, a 40% reduction compared to other lidars, minimizing heat generation and maximizing durability.
  • Its compact and smart design adapts to multiple robotic applications, including cleaning robots, autonomous lawn mowers, agricultural vehicles, and more.

Use Cases and Collaborations

MOVA 1000: Innovation in Robotic Lawn Mowers

The autonomous lawn mower MOVA 1000, equipped with the JT16, combines efficiency and advanced perception, allowing for more precise and convenient lawn care. “The compact size and accuracy of the JT16 have transformed our ability to offer a high-tech product for the home,” said Fei Li, Head of the Global Robotics Division at MOVA.

Agtonomy: Precision in Agriculture

The JT128, integrated into Agtonomy’s autonomous tractors, facilitates precise management of agricultural fleets, even in challenging environments. “Hesai has taken the precision of agricultural automation to a new level,” commented Tim Bucher, CEO of Agtonomy.

Solid State Lidar SSD: Expanding Automotive Horizons

In addition to the JT series, Hesai presented its next generation of solid-state lidar FTX, designed for cars with ADAS systems and robotic applications. This lidar offers a field of view of 180° x 140°, the widest in its automotive category, and a point rate per second 2.5 times higher than its predecessor. Its compact design and reduced weight position it as a key solution for Level 3 and 4 autonomous driving.

Hesai: Leading the Future of Mobility

With over 100,000 lidar units delivered by December 2024, Hesai is solidifying its position as a pioneer in lidar technology. Its advancements continue to transform mobility and industrial applications, enabling robots and vehicles to operate with precision, efficiency, and safety in an increasingly connected world.
