Gaia-X Hub Spain recently held one of its most participatory and inspiring partner assemblies, further solidifying its role as a key meeting point for digitalization and the advancement of data spaces in our country.
The session, led by President Daniel Sáez Domingo and Manager Francisca Rubio, along with the technical and communication team, provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress made and outline future challenges. With the participation of over a hundred entities, the assembly was marked by its dynamism and the commitment of all partners to build a digital future based on sovereignty and secure data exchange.
Tangible impact on the Spanish digital ecosystem
During the assembly, the main achievements of Gaia-X Hub Spain in recent months were highlighted:
- 94 organized events, directly impacting over 6,200 professionals in the sector.
- 10 working groups and 4 task forces, mobilizing 463 active participants.
- Support in securing 150 million euros in funding for data space projects.
- Direct assistance to over 150 entities in calls related to data spaces.
- 8 specialized publications reflecting the collective knowledge generated.
These figures establish Gaia-X Spain as one of the most active and representative national hubs within the European movement for data sovereignty.
Renewal and commitment: new Board of Directors
One of the highlights of the day was the welcome to the newly elected Board of Directors, composed of representatives from leading entities such as the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha, Grupo Aire (Aire networks, OasixCloud, Stackscale), AMETIC, Clúster Big Data & IA Madrid, IndesIA, ITI, Tecnalia, CTIC, Inetum, Telefónica, T-Systems Iberia, among others. This new board takes on the challenge of continuing to drive the growth of the ecosystem, promoting public-private collaboration and the development of interoperable, secure, and sustainable data spaces.
Spaces for collaboration and institutional recognition
The day received support from organizations such as the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function, through SEDIA, highlighting the importance of institutional support for the development of Gaia-X projects. The closing remarks were delivered by Ion Ander Bordonaba, director of Inetum Spain, who emphasized the transformative role of the hub in the digital economy.
An expanding ecosystem
Gaia-X Hub Spain now has 139 partner entities committed to advancing data spaces, including technology companies, research centers, universities, and public administrations. This open and growing ecosystem is essential for positioning Spain as a European leader in digital innovation and data governance.
