The new company will integrate servers, storage, and networking hardware, focusing on data centers, efficiency, and advanced solutions for AI and hybrid quantum computing.
Fujitsu has taken a decisive step in reorganizing its business strategy by announcing the creation of Fsas Technologies Inc., a subsidiary dedicated to its hardware business in Japan, which will operate independently starting April 1, 2024. This decision, part of its transformation plan for 2030, aims to strengthen the management, development, and agility of its technological infrastructure solutions for enterprises, data centers, and artificial intelligence (AI) projects.
Integration of Servers, Storage, and Networking Hardware
Fsas Technologies will bring together all key functions related to the development, manufacturing, sales, and maintenance of server hardware—including the renowned PRIMERGY and PRIMEQUEST—and ETERNUS storage systems, as well as certain networking devices and services. Additionally, it will manage the direct sale of enterprise computers, with a team of about 7,500 specialized employees transferred from Fujitsu to ensure service continuity and excellence for clients.
Activities related to mainframes and UNIX servers will remain under the control of Fujitsu Limited, while Fsas Technologies will take over most of the mission-critical hardware and corporate communications business, in a model oriented to high value-added solutions and maximum reliability.
Multibrand Model and Focus on Energy Efficiency
Fsas Technologies’ strategic goal is to offer complete solutions tailored to clients’ needs in an increasingly data center-focused, energy-efficient, and sustainable environment. To this end, the new company will adopt a multibrand approach, collaborating not only with Fujitsu but also with other technology integrators, allowing for open and flexible solutions in the face of challenges such as performance, security, and energy savings.
In Spain, the leadership of Fsas Technologies will fall to Gonzalo Romeo, who will be responsible for enhancing partnerships with stakeholders and facilitating access to cutting-edge technologies in the local market.
Investing in the Monaka Chip and Hybrid Quantum Computing
One of the most innovative projects being driven by Fsas Technologies is the development of Monaka, a low-power chip based on ARM architecture, specifically designed for artificial intelligence workloads. With this solution, the company hopes to compete head-to-head with giants like Nvidia, Intel, and AMD in the rapidly growing market for accelerated computing.
Together with its offerings for critical data centers—which will provide the necessary infrastructure for advanced AI projects—Fsas Technologies is working on deploying a hybrid quantum computing platform capable of combining real physical hardware and simulation, positioning itself at the forefront of technological innovation in Europe and Asia.
Future Vision and Commitment to the Customer
According to Christian Leutner, Vice President and General Manager for Europe at Fsas Technologies, the company draws from “the legacy of Japanese precision and excellence from Fujitsu” to provide “sustainable, reliable, and robust datacenter solutions.” Leutner emphasizes that the new approach will allow the team to “fully focus on customer needs, be more agile, and optimally use our specialized technological expertise in datacenter solutions and infrastructure services.”
Fsas Technologies will continue to collaborate with Fujitsu to deliver integration, management, and support services while seeking to boost its own identity in the enterprise hardware market, maintaining its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and technological leadership.
With this spinoff, Fujitsu reinforces its commitment to global digital transformation while positioning Fsas Technologies as a key player in the evolution of data centers, artificial intelligence, and next-generation computing, both in Japan and international markets.
