The town of Frederick, Colorado, has taken a decisive step toward modernizing its digital infrastructure. Intrepid Fiber Networks, in partnership with ALLO Fiber, has officially initiated the deployment of an open-access fiber optic network that will connect over 5,400 homes and businesses in the area with multi-gigabit symmetrical speeds.
The symbolic opening ceremony, held last Friday, was attended by municipal officials, representatives from the Carbon Valley Chamber of Commerce, and teams from both Intrepid and ALLO. Mayor Tracie Crites, along with other city council members, publicly endorsed the initiative, emphasizing that “this project represents a transformative chapter in the history of Frederick’s infrastructure and a bold commitment to improving the daily lives of our residents, supporting everything from remote work and online education to healthcare, entrepreneurship, and local commerce.”
Engineering, permitting, and construction work has already begun, and the network is expected to be fully operational by early 2027. This deployment is part of a broader commitment by Intrepid Fiber Networks to equip various communities across the United States with top-tier broadband infrastructure.
Jack Waters, CEO of Intrepid Fiber Networks, highlighted the strategic value of the initiative: “We are thrilled to partner with the town of Frederick to bring fiber optic infrastructure to their community. It’s an investment in the future that will enable residents and businesses to access new digital opportunities.”
The introduction of this fiber optic network represents the adoption of an open wholesale access model, allowing multiple providers to offer their services over the same infrastructure, promoting competition and providing a greater variety of options for end consumers.
Frederick, a town with a rich mining history since its incorporation in 1907, has transformed into a dynamic community strategically located near the Denver metropolitan area and the Northern Front Range. Now, its commitment to digitization places it at the forefront of small American towns that view technological development as a path to future growth.
