Francisco Hortigüela, New President of Ametic with the Goal of a More Inclusive and Collaborative Association

The board of directors of Ametic (MULTISECTORAL ASSOCIATION OF COMPANIES IN ELECTRONICS, INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES, TELECOMMUNICATIONS, AND DIGITAL CONTENT), the employers’ organization for the digital industry in Spain, has appointed Francisco Hortigüela as its new president, succeeding Pedro Mier, who completed his term after eight years in office. Hortigüela, who was the general director of Ametic from 2019 to 2023, received the majority support of the board with 33 votes in favor.

The new president of Ametic is the founder and CEO of InBusiness 5.0 and has an extensive background in the technology sector, with experience in companies like Philips and Samsung, where he held positions in marketing and communication, respectively. Following his appointment, Hortigüela expressed his enthusiasm and commitment to the development of a more “inclusive, collaborative, and close” Ametic to its members.

A Committed and Diversified Team

Hortigüela will be accompanied by a team of outstanding professionals in the digital sector. Alicia Asín, co-founder and CEO of Libelium, will serve as vice president, while Sandra Figaredo, director of Institutional Relations and Public Sector at Innocv Solutions, will take on the role of general secretary. José Luis Manzanares, CEO of Ayesa, will be the treasurer of the association. The executive committee of Ametic will also include representatives from companies such as Samsung, Apple, Amazon, Xiaomi, and other leading firms in the digital domain.

A “Stronger and More Influential” Ametic

Hortigüela announced his candidacy for the presidency of Ametic just a few days before the elections, having received support from numerous members. On his LinkedIn profile, the new president expressed his commitment to achieving a “stronger, more influential, and participatory” Ametic, emphasizing the need to give more voice and weight to its members. “We want a dynamic, attractive Ametic without personal protagonism,” he stated.

In addition to the renewal of the board of directors, Hortigüela proposes to strengthen collaboration with other associations and entities, with the aim of consolidating Ametic as a benchmark in the Spanish and European digital industry.

Challenges on the Horizon for the Digital Industry

The appointment of Hortigüela comes at a crucial moment for the technology sector, which is facing significant challenges in terms of digitalization, sustainability, and cybersecurity. From the presidency of Ametic, the new management team aims to not only defend the interests of its members but also to promote policies that favor innovation and competitiveness among technology companies in Spain.

With this new direction, Ametic begins a phase aimed at establishing itself as an association that encourages the active participation of its members, promoting growth and collaboration in an increasingly strategic sector for the national economy.
