Foxconn and NVIDIA Drive AI Supercomputer in Taiwan: The First AI Factory on the Island is Born

Foxconn, the Taiwanese electronics giant, has announced a new strategic partnership with NVIDIA to build a next-generation AI Factory in Taiwan, which will become one of the most powerful computing supercenters in East Asia. This new computational node will be aimed at accelerating the development and application of artificial intelligence in the industrial, academic, and governmental sectors of the region.

The initiative not only positions Taiwan as a key player in the new era of AI and robotics, but also makes Foxconn the first NVIDIA Cloud Partner (NCP) in the country. This collaboration strengthens the commitment of both companies to consolidate an advanced and resilient technological infrastructure designed to transform entire industries.

“Share, collaborate, and thrive. This AI factory lays the groundwork for the government, industry, and academia to propel Taiwan into its next era of innovation,” stated Young Liu, president of Foxconn.

A Supercomputer with Blackwell Architecture

The supercomputing center will be based on NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture, and will include GB300 NVL72 rack solutions, high-speed NVIDIA NVLink interconnect networks, Quantum InfiniBand, and Spectrum-X Ethernet, consolidating an infrastructure capable of meeting today’s most demanding computational challenges.

This powerful system will serve as the engine for Foxconn’s three strategic platforms:

  • Smart Manufacturing
  • Smart EV (Electric Vehicles)
  • Smart City

Additionally, Foxconn will channel part of this computational capacity to the NVIDIA DGX Cloud Lepton platform, a new AI ecosystem that offers training and deployment resources to developers and companies worldwide.

TSMC and Academia Among Major Beneficiaries

One of the first institutions to benefit from this infrastructure will be TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company), which will use the system to accelerate its R&D in semiconductor technologies. According to C.C. Wei, president and CEO of TSMC:

“Leveraging this AI infrastructure reinforces our commitment to innovation. It will enable our researchers to achieve significant advancements in developing next-generation solutions.”

Meanwhile, Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, highlighted the crucial role of this alliance:

“NVIDIA’s AI factories are the infrastructure of this new era. Together with Foxconn, we are building a cutting-edge AI platform for Taiwan’s leading global tech ecosystem.”

With this new AI Factory, Foxconn is not only aligning with global trends in accelerated computing and robotics, but is also taking a leading role in shaping the digital future of the island and much of Asia.
