The recent High-Level Isolated Depression (DANA) has wreaked havoc in the Valencia Community, leaving numerous citizens without access to telephone services and the Internet. In response to this emergency, ESpanix has announced measures to facilitate the recovery of affected telecommunications infrastructures.
ESpanix, the main connectivity node in Spain and one of the largest in Southern Europe, has made it possible for any telecommunications operator or company in the Valencia Community to request additional capacity completely free of charge. Interested parties must complete a form available on their official website.
The organization has ensured that all requests for increasing or activating capacity will be handled as quickly as possible, operating 24/7. Additionally, the offered increase is unlimited in both capacity and duration, with the goal of restoring normal communication in the region as soon as possible.
What is ESpanix?
ESpanix is a Spanish non-profit association that manages and maintains a neutral telecommunications point at the national level. Founded in 1997, its mission is to oversee the proper functioning of the neutral IP traffic exchange node in Spain, facilitating interconnection between different operators and improving the efficiency and quality of communication networks.
With over 170 clients and an infrastructure capacity of 240 Tb/sec, ESpanix plays a crucial role in the country’s connectivity, offering services that enhance the resilience of interconnected networks, reduce IP transit costs, and improve latency.
ESpanix’s initiative to provide free capacity to operators and companies in the Valencia Community reflects its commitment to the community and its essential role in Spain’s telecommunications infrastructure.
