Dubai Commercial Bank is driving its digital innovation with the help of Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and du, part of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), have announced a strategic collaboration with the Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD), one of the leading national banks in the United Arab Emirates, to accelerate the digital transformation of the bank through the implementation of a hybrid cloud solution. This strategic alliance aims to optimize both the customer experience and the bank’s team experience, utilizing the HPE GreenLake platform and du’s connectivity and security services.

Founded in 1969, CBD is recognized for offering a wide range of banking services to both corporate and personal clients. With the goal of solidifying its vision to become a ‘digital by default’ bank, CBD has seen significant growth in the diversity and volume of its customer base in recent years. To better support its clients, the bank has embarked on an ambitious plan to drive digital innovation, with a hybrid cloud environment at the core of this strategy.

By using HPE GreenLake as the foundation of its private cloud, along with du’s comprehensive network and security solutions, CBD will be able to implement and accelerate its digital transformation strategy for the next five years. This plan aims to establish a more efficient and autonomous automated IT operating model, enhancing responsiveness, visibility, and control while minimizing complexities and manual processes. It is crucial for the bank to operate critical applications and workloads within a private cloud environment that integrates AI capabilities and personalized services under its complete control. This approach ensures CBD’s ability to quickly adapt to changing business needs and meet customer expectations.

The HPE GreenLake platform provides a unified and automated control plane for its private and public clouds, backed by leading HPE products and services, such as HPE Services for overall migration process and Zerto for VM migration and cyber resilience. To ensure efficient and secure connectivity across its IT estate, CBD also relies on HPE Aruba Networking’s intelligent edge solutions, including next-generation Wi-Fi 6E and Network Access Control (NAC).

This comprehensive hybrid cloud infrastructure will be strengthened through key services provided by du as part of its data center and managed services solutions, enabling CBD to enhance security, automate tasks, drive innovation, and develop AI-driven services to deliver exceptional customer experiences. Additionally, it acts as a critical safeguard to protect sensitive financial information and customer data.

Dr. Bernd van Linder, CEO of Commercial Bank of Dubai, highlighted the importance of this collaboration: “Implementing a hybrid cloud strategy will allow us to address the changing needs of our customers and employees, optimizing our operational efficiency, financial planning, and resource allocation. HPE GreenLake will be an essential part of this environment, ensuring a consistent cloud experience across all our applications and workloads.”

Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO of du, expressed his enthusiasm for supporting CBD’s hybrid cloud transformation, providing connectivity, hosting, and network security services, as well as continuous 24/7 support. “Our priority is to ensure that CBD has the necessary infrastructure and support to drive digital innovation and optimize customer experiences. We are excited to join forces with CBD on this path to success.”

This joint effort between HPE, du, and Commercial Bank of Dubai not only reinforces the bank’s technological infrastructure but also sets a new standard in integrating hybrid cloud solutions in the financial sector.
