At CES 2025, Dolby Laboratories dazzled with its innovations in in-car entertainment, solidifying its leadership in immersive sound and image experiences. The company announced the expansion of Dolby Atmos to more car manufacturers and presented the first demonstration of Dolby Vision integrated into vehicles, marking a milestone in the automotive industry.
Dolby Atmos: Immersive Sound in More Cars
Since its debut at CES 2023, the adoption of Dolby Atmos in the automotive sector has skyrocketed. Currently, over 20 manufacturers, including leading brands like Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, Polestar, and Volvo, have incorporated this technology into their vehicles. Among the highlighted announcements this year, Sony Honda Mobility confirmed the integration of Dolby Atmos in its much-anticipated electric model, AFEELA.
At CES, attendees had the chance to experience the AKG 19-speaker sound system in the Cadillac OPTIQ 2025, which includes Dolby Atmos as standard. Additionally, Dolby showcased how this technology can be implemented in aftermarket audio systems, thanks to partnerships with suppliers like Pioneer.
The growing library of content in Dolby Atmos also plays a crucial role. According to Dolby, 93% of the featured artists on the Billboard 2024 Top 100 have released music in Dolby Atmos, offering drivers a high-quality audio experience during their commutes.
Dolby Vision: Visual Innovation in the Car
For the first time, Dolby Vision, known for transforming visual entertainment with high-quality HDR imagery, makes its way into the automotive sector. In collaboration with Li Auto, Dolby introduced the Li MEGA, the world’s first vehicle equipped with both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
The strategic partnership with Samsung Display promises to bring Dolby Vision to more cars globally. Samsung’s OLED panels, specifically designed to deliver Dolby Vision, enhance the visual experience, providing more vibrant colors, deeper blacks, and stunning details.
An Immersive Future for In-Car Entertainment
“Dolby transforms the science of sound and image into spectacular experiences for billions of people around the world,” stated John Couling, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Dolby Laboratories. With the growth of Dolby Atmos and the debut of Dolby Vision in cars, the company reaffirms its commitment to redefining entertainment in the automotive sector.
